...Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon), and Anna Leonowens (by Jodie Foster). It is love between two people, with different background, status and responsilities. You would enjoy the intriguing and interesting dialogues between Anna and King Mongkut, where both through argument, secretly admired each other. ...force in the world. Anna is summoned to work for the King of Siam and to tutor his (58) children about English customs. Anna takes her son and forms a strong bond with the King and the whole royal family. Ok so it may not sound very exciting, but there is plenty of drama, tension and action I can assure you. The film also explores the often unforgiving Siam customs and the impending war with Burma.
The film is beautifully shot and a pleasure to ...

...Killers) - Jodie Foster as Anna Leonowens (Panic Room, Contact, Nell, Silence of the Lambs)
The Film is based on the diaries of Anna Leonowens, who died in Canada, Quebec from a stroke in 1915.
I think this is better than the original (King and I) despite my fondness of musicals. The acting is superb and there is a huge cast of extras.
I can't imagine how difficult this was to make a film with the costumes (that are superb) and locations involved.
... ...Fiesty teacher, recently widowed who travels to Siam to teach the children of King Mongkut. There she learns that Siam is very different from all that she knows back in England.
The film is set in the 1860s and the relationship between the Teacher and the King develops from a cold respect for each others values, into a love interest/ sparring contest.
Chow Yun-Fat is magnificent in the title role of the King and plays a philosophical Ruler with ...

DVD Description
Based on the diary writings of English widow Anna Leonowens, who journeyed to Siam in 1862 to tutor the children of King Mongkut, this is a grand, epic motion picture that recalls the Hollywood days of yore (see 1946's ANNA AND THE KING OF SIAM and 1956's THE KING AND I for earlier screen adaptations). Yun Fat delivers a heartwarming performance that should finally earn him star status in America, and Foster is, as always, a magnetic screen presence. Their relationship, which is sparked by a just-beneath-the-surface romantic undercurrent, propels the story forward and provides it with its emotional core. As the film builds to its exciting climax, the relationship between the two is tested even further.
