Advantages: Based on a fine fine book Disadvantages: none
This was a re-release of the classic animated film adaptation of George Orwells fine book of the same name.
The book is a fine, fine piece - a masterful display of saying so much more than is actually written.
The films follows the story very precisely. The events take place on a farm, where all the animals live, unsurprisingly. While the story does work on all levels and kids will enjoy it simply for a basic story and characters, it is in fact ... ...of human life, and the animals, are animals are us. It is a brilliant film, which will really make you look long and hard at us humans...are we really that bad???
Dont be put off by the fact this i animated. It is a brilliant piece on human kind, which really is not aimed at kids (though they will enjoy it along a much more basic premise) ...

Advantages: Great for Kids and Adults Disadvantages: None
...Chicken Run is a great film and it has been turned into an amazing DVD. The film firstly is great entertainment as animated chickens try to escape from their farm. The characters are great with my favourite being Rocky the Rooster voiced by Mel Gibson. The disc has a healthy portion of special features to enhance the entertainment value further. The clips of other Aardman animation is particularly good since you can see
bits of Wallace and Gromit and Creature Comforts. The menus are even entertaining with every single one being animated in some way. The sound and picture quality are incredible and so all in all it is great entertainment....

Advantages: Fantastic real life and animated animals, success of small things Disadvantages: Over sweet story, too identifiable voice talents, realistic rat, flat characters
...at the Fair. This was a collection of stills from the filming at the fair and it was of no use whatsoever unless perhaps you are a huge fan of Dakota Fanning.
· Farm Photo Album. This was similar to the above except centred on the farmanimals. My DVD got stuck at this point and wouldn’t respond to the menu button and I had to stop completely and start again. From what I saw they were just pictures so not that interesting.
· Gag reel. I was expecting some hilarious outtakes, as there must have been so many happening in such a production. However, it looks like I was wrong because there wasn’t much on the evidence shown here.
· Deleted scenes. There is an option to watch about eight deleted scenes with or without a filmmaker commentary. I found it more interesting with to get the explanation of the reason for the deletion. It seems that a dog...

Review: "...Faithful in tone and detail to the novel....This brooding, live-action adaptation of George Orwell's novel shouldn't be neglected..." -- 4 out of 5 stars (Total Film, p.112, 01/07/2000)
