I have always wanted to see the ‘teen movie of 2008’ ever since it was released. I had planned on going to the cinema to see it , although by the time I got round to going to the cinema , the film , to my disappointment wasn’t showing anymore. So when I went to my friend’s house the other night and saw this DVD sitting on her DVD shelf , I couldn’t resist not asking could I borrow it.
Angus , Thongs and Perfect Snogging was released in the United Kingdom on July 25th 2008. The film comes under the comedy and drama genres , although it is also aimed at the teenage audience. Running time of this movie is one hundred minutes (one hour and forty minutes). This movie is a 12A which means children under the age of twelve can watch this film, providing there is an adult with them. This film is based on one of the books , out of the ‘Angus , Thongs…’ series by Louise Rennison.
This film follows Georgia Nicholson ; a fourteen year old school girl , as she travels through her teenage year. This film shows the stresses of everyday life , that teenagers of today go through. Will she ever get a boyfriend ? Through the best party ever ? All while keeping her parents happy ? Watch Angus Thongs and Perfect Snogging.
First of all , I remember borrowing this book from my school library when I was about thirteen. I remember reading the first couple of pages , but it wasn’t enough to satisfy me , and so I took the back to library without reading it. However , when I went to see the hit film Mamma Mia! In the cinema last summer , and saw this film advertising ; whilst watching the trailer , I knew that this was going to be something I was going to enjoy.
This movie is a definite movie for teenage girls. I’m sure every single teen will be able to relate to what Georgia goes through in this movie , such as ‘wondering if she’ll ever get a boyfriend’ , ‘wishing she was thinner/prettier/had a smaller nose etc. I’m sure everyone will see a part of themselves in Georgia’s character. I think this is the reason that I enjoyed this film so much ; because there was so much I could relate to.
I love a bit of eye-candy , so I was disappointed to discover that there wasn’t any in this movie. I had expected there to be some ‘hot guys’ being as the teenage girls are boy mad , but there just wasn’t any.
I loved the characters in this movie ; especially Georgia because she is just so real. I think she represents all teenage girls. What the character goes through , the viewer goes through too. I thought the actors and actresses were really could considering they were quite young. They certainly are a talented bunch ; ones to look out for in the future. I loved their ‘excited’ and sometimes ‘over the top’ acting. But it certainly made great viewing!
Whilst watching this movie , I couldn’t help but compare Georgia to the character Bridget Jones. The characters seem so alike in the way they are the ones who continuously embarrass themselves , although of course they are different ages. Just like every woman could relate to Bridget , every girl can relate to Georgia.
If you love a good chick flick , or a teenage girl hosting a sleepover ; this is perfect!
