Andy McNab's Tour Of Duty (DVD)

Advantages: Good information, very detailed
Disadvantages: Some language not suitable for younger readers.

...This is a real read and not for the faint hearted. The language is pretty graphic as are the details of Andy McNabs varied life. From the moment he was left in a carrier bag on the steps of Guy's Hospital to. I can understand why the government tried but failed to ban this book. McNab has been involved with conflicts around the World, including as a boy soldier fighting the IRA. He guides us through a world of surveillance and intelligence gathering, counter terrorism and hostage rescue. The details are as gripping as one of McNabs Nick Stone novels. First hand experience always gives you a better ability to write fiction more so than any writer who has to do their research. Advantages: Fast Pace Action Thriller, a book that once you start you cannot put down
Disadvantages: Storylines are starting to sound very similar

...Since my Dad gave me an Andy McNab book to read I have been an avid fan ever since having read all of his books. This new story 'Recoil' has lots of action right from the beginning going back to the eighties when Nick Stone was a young lad fighting in Africa, then moving swiftly on to the present day finding that he is still with Silke who we met in the last book 'Aggressor' and his plans for the future, but as per normal nothing goes to plan and he ends up back in Africa in the jungle fighting, meeting up with people from the past and re-evaluating his future. I do love reading Andy McNabs books but feel that Nick Stone is going to have to retire soon, even though I am unable to put the book down once I start reading, the storylines are starting to become very similar and I am sure that Nick Stone is no Captain Scarlett. ...Another great fictional book from the author of Bravo Two Zero. From start to finish its action packed and keeps you on the edge of your seat because you never know whats going to happen next. I could not put this book down until i finished it and i'm sure I wasn't the only one. Its well written, the characters are so realistic they make you feel like you're part of the team and you can't help but admire Nick Stone (the main character) for his sheer stubborness and refusual to leave a man (or woman i should add) behind, the story is believable and very credible..in fact so much that you can't help but think that the author has been in similar situations. James Bond seems like a wimp who leads a quiet life compared to Nick Stone. The character makes McNabs SAS experiences and writing skills come to life. When all looks lost... Read review
