Fellini takes the viewer on a sea voyage in 1914, complete with a collection of passengers of every description - an Austrian duke, peasant refugees, and members of the cast of an Italian opera company, who are transporting the ashes of a departed friend to her homeland. As it is the eve of WWI, the ship encounters the first war refugees and takes them aboard, thus broadening the classes aboard the vessel. An impressive opening, an unexpected ending and a steady parade of Fellini's trademark set pieces and inconsequential, amusing events color this late work from the director's ouvre.
Advantages: Its pretty dramatic. Disadvantages: I thought the ship was unsinkable?
...The way the story of the Titanic's maidan voyage is introduced is done beautifully by using an elderly lady Rose whom was on board ship to come and see the sunken wreakage of the Titanic after the discovery of a nude sketch of her drawn by her lover on board ship Jack, this stimulates to relive that journey.
Rose is a high class woman who boards ship with her Mother and wealthy fiancee. Whereas Jack is a lowly working class man who wins his ticket in a game of cards five minutes before the ship is to set sail, Jack and his friend manage to just make the ship in time and the journey begins to New York.
While on board Jack saves Rose from throwing herself overboard because she is so unhappy, this begins a love affair that overcomes the class barriers.
Of course everyone knows that the ship hits an iceberg and consquently sinks...

Advantages: Sailing ship action film Disadvantages: none
...Super action movie,if you like old sailingships you will like this, this is a film my son (10 years) and i will watch again and again.
Definetly one to be recomended
If you've ever seen the victory in Portsmouth historic dock and walked on it, then this gives you a chance to see how old warships were in action,( if you haven,t then i reccommend you do)you can almost smell the action.
This film also teaches you a lot about how the conditions were in those days on those ships, sometimes desperate men cramped conditions and ruthless war !
Buy this and keep in your collection ,you will watch it over and over again, i know i will.
For all those who love sailingships do not miss this film, its grrrrr.......eat !!!...

...Right well this is an attempt to rectify the awful job I did on this review originally. I am the first to admit it was awful and at best just slightly cringe worthy!!
So here we go...
