DVD Description
Two British girls go on a bicycling vacation in France. After quarrelling, the two girls separate. The more responsible of the pair, Jane, feels guilty about leaving, and decides to return to the infamous stretch of road where she left her friend. When she gets there, she finds her friend is missing and begins a tour of the surrounding area, questioning those she encounters about her friend. However, as time passes and there is no trace of her friend, Jane imagines the worst, and fears that the next person she encounters could be her friend's killer. Atmospheric, suspenseful, and shocking, AND SOON THE DARKNESS is a gripping thriller.
Advantages: Great, thought provoking, Comedy. Disadvantages: None
...When I first saw this in the cinema I knew as soon as the ending credits started it would soon be finding its way into my somewhat limited DVD collection. It was, of course, marketed as a comedy and some parts of this film certainly were funny. However I would suggest that this may instead be classed as a dark comedy. Some parts were certainly sad and very thought provoking.
Adam Sandler proved himself as a very able actor capable of pulling off a variety of different moods within his character and was backed up by an able cast making the story definetely worthy and credible.
The main morale of the story as is obvious towards the end is don't waste your life so here's a piece of advise. Don't waste any time reading any more reviews get out there buy this DVD and get on with your life....

Advantages: Great songs and acting Disadvantages: don't watch if you are depressed - it might tip you over the edge
...This film is the best film i have ever seen. At the start the camera angles and some of the dialogue made me think it was a waste of £7, but soon i overcame this to realise what a fantastinc film this really is.
I originally went to see the film because of Bjork, and she is the star of the film, but i enjoyed all the actors.
I bought the CD before watching the film, and i found it strange to have other people singing the parts, and most of the songs had completly different words.
By the end of the film, i think everyone in the cinema was crying....

Advantages: Great plot - Absolutely absorbing!! Disadvantages: Bit on the long side.
...This DVD contains, in my opinion, the definitive version of 'The Shining', Stephen King's acclaimed masterpiece.
This version is faithful to the actual events of the book and as a result, tension and suspense is created effortlessly and a far deeper sense of actually being there at The Overlook with the Torrances is acheived when compared with Stanley Kubrick's own film version of the story.
The story will have you hooked. Whereas in the opening scenes, the Torrances are portrayed as your average working-class family, it soon becomes apparent that the young boy, Danny, has a supernatural talent (the ability to 'shine' that allows him to see into the future) and it is not long before the family are staying in a vast, empty hotel that holds many dark and scary secrets.
So, if you've read the book and want more or even if you just want...
