...the elements required of a good film. As a relative of the ancient worlds most famous leader, Julius Caesar, the young Augustus wins his spurs, as it where, fighting in the civil struggles that plagued the empire. After Caesars assassination, Augustus sees it as his duty to pursue and deliver vengeance on his patrons killers. After killing Brutus and Cassius he settles down to share the empire with his ally Marc Antony. His former ally becomes infatuated with the Egyptian Queen, Cleopatra and sets her up as his queen whilst shifting his sphere of interest from Rome to Alexandria. With Rome abandoned by its supposed leader, Augustus reluctantly prepares for war again. The result is the defeat of his old ally, the death of Cleopatra and the control of Rome falling into Augustus hands, and he is made Emperor, the first in its history. Although... Read review

Advantages: Everything, quality, great storyline!!
Disadvantages: Nothing, perfect almost.

...Its full of sex, violence, drugs, corruption and blood, what more can you want. This series is fantasitic but its only a mini mini mini series stops after season 2 because of HBO not making a decent profit. This is such a mistake of HBO to make as it is so addictive. ANYWAYS, to the point, Rome is amazing: the acting, the setting and great historial facts about Rome and Gaius Julius Caeser. It starts of with two characters Lucius Vorenus and Titus Pollo both serving in the Roman legion, having finished the war against the Gauls, Mark Antony gives Vorenus the order to find the stolen "Eagle Standard" hence the journey of Pollo and Vorenus begins . It depicts the reality of what went on in Roman times, murder, rape, stealing and slavery, and the rise and fall of Caeser. All events are based on what historians believe is correct... Read review

...i was a bit skepticul of this film before seeing it as i was not realy in to all that ancient rome stuff. after seeing it though, i felt soooo different as this a great story focused around a formidable fighter of the roman empire called maximus. he is to be killed after after being accused of treason after correctly identifying the emperors son as his murderer. he then fights his way up after escaping through the colleueum and then eventually joins his wife and kids inheaven! a true hero! this really is a must see!...
