What can i say! If you like the seventies, and you liked the original angels (Farah Fawcett etc), you're gonna love this.
The all new "Charlie's Angels", is great by comparison and boasts a full modern hollywood cast of stars.
The whole film hinges around three girls, Natalie (Cameron Diaz), Dylan (Drew Barrymore), and Alex (Lucy Liu) along with the infamous Bill Murray in the guise of Bosley, all of whom play their parts very well. Not only is the acting good, but the action seems to never end.
As with the angels of old, the story begins in the "Once upon a time" style revealing who and what the girls were, and on to the new life they now have as an elite team of private investigators headed up by the ever invisible Charlie. Once that's out of the way the story begins with the trio being called in to investigate the theft ...
Advantages: Such a deep and in depth film Disadvantages: Characters could be developed
Brown wrote a series of novels but in the book versions, Angels and Demons was published before The Da Vinci Code however the film was obviously released after. The director of the film decided to make the film a sequel and not a prequel, although this meant that certain parts of the film were slightly changed, the film does incorporate nearly each aspect of Dan Brown?s book closely.
Where is the film set?
The film was shot mainly in Italy and some of the scenes were also shot in a studio in California. The imagery in the film is excellent in my opinion and there is a wide range of different scenes and locations which the film runs through. This makes the whole film more interesting, I personally cannot stand films which only have a range of about 3 different scenes.
i think the fact that the plot was based in Italy and the fact ...
Advantages: Great cast, plot and true to the book Disadvantages: None
Angels and demons was a film that I had wanted to watch for a while, having been a great fan of the book, and the previous film The Da Vinci Code, I knew that this film would be both controversial yet at the same time very action packed and entertaining.
Ron Howard is a great director he made the Da Vinci code live up to the book, and previous work in Apollo Thirteen has meant that he does no how to make a great film, with a great cast, great plot and great twist. Some would say that it?s easy to direct a film that was a book, however I think its even harder, You have to make the film suspenseful, people who read the book might no the outcome of the film, but if you put enough thought into it you can still make the intrigued.
Plot:
The film begins with the setting of a scientific experiment at the CERN centre in Switzerland, were ...
"...Low-key and naturalistic....The film is like reading a diary....A great compliment to Campion is that the movie never seems less than genuine..." (Los Angeles Times, p.F2, 07/05/1992)
"...A fine, rigorous adaptation....A very gentle film..." (New York Times, p.C15, 20/05/1991)
This sprawling, detailed film by Jane Campion (THE PIANO) tells the true story of Janet Frame, a painfully sensitive girl who managed to escape a dreary rural upbringing and eight years in a mental hospital to become New Zealand's premier poet. The film unfolds as a trilogy, with each section based on a different Frame autobiography. "To the Is-Land" chronicles her childhood and awkward teenage years. "An Angel at My Table" focuses on her time as a teacher and her horrifying mental institution experience. "The Envoy from Mirror City" finds Frame an emerging, critically lauded writer traveling on a grant in Europe and finding love for the first time. Kerry Fox, as the adult Frame, is astonishing. She transmits painfully self-aware shyness until it rubs off on the viewer. Campion expertly captures the details of Frame's time and place, creating a brutal, impersonal world by turns unremittingly dreary and starkly beautiful. Stunning, exhausting, brilliant, this acclaimed film debuted on New Zealand TV as a miniseries and was later edited for feature-length release internationally.
