trudge on to the next town, when suddenly the air is pierced by an unearthly howl.....Three weeks later, one is dead, the other is in the hospital, and the nightmare begins for An American Werewolf in London. David Naughton, Griffin Dunne and Jenny Agutter star in this contemporary story of the macabre that takes you from the Welsh moors to Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square and the grounds of Windsor Castle. This classic was written and directed by John Landis, the man who brought you National Lampoon's Animal House. Adding to the chill is art direction by Academy Award winner Les Dilley of Star Wars and Allen fame and special makeup effects by six-time Academy Award winner Rick Baker, whose includes Star Wars and Men in Black.

students (David Naughton and Griffin Dunne) on a European vacation wander into a creepy local pub in Northern England and are quickly thrown out. Stranded and alone in the dark countryside, the pair get lost in their search for warm lodging. Little do they know that they are about to be changed forever by an ancient terror as they walk along the moors on a moonlit night. Only one of the students survives a deadly attack by a supernatural beast--at least he thinks he survived, until the next full moon rolls around. Terrific makeup effects (by Oscar winner Rick Baker), clever editing, and raunchy tongue-in-cheek humor made this suspenseful and thrilling horror effort an instant classic.

backpackers David Kessler (David Naughton) and Jack (Griffin Dunne) take off for a three month European jaunt. Walking in the desolate English countryside, they come across some locals who give them chilling words of advice: Keep to the road and keep clear of the moors and Beware of the moon. The boys set off into the darkness and hear a terrifying howl from across the moors, unaware that they are being stalked by a mythical beast with a taste for blood. Those who are killed by this creature become the undead, roaming the earth throughout eternity, but anyone who escapes with his life has a different fate in store...

Back in the 1980's, An American Werewolf In London was just the coolest of cool movies, a stylish and very original modernisation of the werewolf legend with special effects by Jon Landis who was involved in Michael Jackson's much admired Thriller video, and stuffed with stem to stern with both the blackest of black humour and songs like Bad Moon Rising which were specifically picked to take the rise out of the whole genre. It was very good indeed and one of the funniest films of the decade, although you could also enjoy it as a straight horror flick if that was your bent.
It took more than a decade for that success to be exploited by a follow up, but in 1997 An American Werewolf In Paris arrived upon the world to try and recapture the magic - such a delay is almost unheard of in cinema, where the normal trick is to get while the getting is good.
One could have been forgiven, therefore, for thinking that on this occasion we might have missed out on the normal tepid qualities of the follow up, but unfortunately with AAWIP we get a very bland and meaningless virtual retread of the original which totally lacks all the flair, finesse and intelligence of its predecessor.
In fact, apart from a relocation of events from London to Paris (with the only obvious signs being the appearance of the Eiffel Tower at the start and the end) and a pretty dire plot about a bunch of French werewolves seeking to carry out a spot of ethnic cleansing, this could just be seen as a thoroughly flawed retread of the original.
You get the same basic ingredients of American Twenty Somethings holidaying in Europe (only this time there's three of them rather than two), with one of them getting bitten by a werewolf and being haunted by his now dead mate who tries to give him the lowdown on what's happened and how to sort things, but the stylish black humour of that scenario from AAWIL is just rendered as weak camp laffs this time with a dead hooker whistling and blood being shot out of her ear - she whistles again and her eyeball pops out on its stringy bit - nah, this time it's just weak tosh which has all been done so much more wittily before.
There's another romantic interlude, but this time the chick is a werewolf herself, but there's nothing to see here in the way of clever use of the basics of the plot and all the attempts at invention, parody and humour are just shallow and pathetically limited.
The acting is pretty atrocious throughout with no one providing a performance worthy of the name. The special effects are unimpressive and old hat and the monsters this time aren't worth the wait - big Alsatians with barrel chests who can stand up may be scary when they're in the stands at Elland Road but on a sophisticated audience which is used to gore and fanciful creations they're just lovable puppies.
Things actually started off quite promisingly with Andy the lead trying to impress his mates by bungee jumping off the Eiffel Tower and succeeding in catching the female werewolf before she can hit the ground and seizing her lost shoe in typical Cinderella fashion, but things quickly descend into terribly dull farce with literally not a thing to commend anything here.
I didn't expect a great deal from this film, but got even less. Still at least it brought back some memories of AAWIL ... and that was a film to be admired, as good and wonderfully enjoyable as this turkey is bad and tediously depressing.
An American Werewolf In London was an excellent tongue-in-cheek horror movie. It combined some hilarious moments with scenes of absolute horror and the werewolf evolution effects were the best I have ever seen. They are still yet to be surpassed and won an award for their ingenuity - hours of painting on gelatine and filming..and then more gelatine...woderful gooey stuff. It was and remains one of my favourite horror movies. It was then with a little ... ...little stupid, but basically involves an american tourist in Paris rescuing a girl on the Eiffel tower. She turns out to be a werewolf and a plot is disclosed that a werewolf cult is going to trying to tkae over the world. They have a drug which allows them to become werewolves at any time they like - no need for a full moon. Ok, its all very silly(and sounds like Blade but with wolves), but it could have worked. In the hands of a different director. ...

Advantages: Only 80 minutes in length. Disadvantages: A complete waste of film stock.
John Landis's classic An American Werewolf in London not only featured benchmark special effects but was also a fairly amusing comedy. This thoroughly pointless sequel tries to repeat the formula but fails on both counts, despite being directed by talented Mute Witness helmer Anthony Waller.
Three Americans get mixed up with a werewolf cult in France and...bleurrghh! I can't be arsed to explain the rest. All you need to know is that all the main ... ...are completely dire. The "werewolves", if you can bring yourself to call them that, look more like large moles, and provide plenty of arsenal for the old-skool effects brigade (of which I am one). Where's Rick Baker when you need him.
The only good thing I can say is that at least this poor excuse for entertainment is only around 80 minutes long. ...

Advantages: Gets better each time you view it Disadvantages: Crap plot and not much else going for it.Tedious
Let me tell you first that if you want to watch this film and are worried you might be missing something becasue you haven't seen American Werewolf in London then don't worry the only way this sequel could be linked is by the title.
Now when I heard they were making this film I thought it would follow on from the AWIL but sadly it didn't.This really though did give the film some breathing space as it would have been nigh on impossible to string ... ...veiwed the film it bored me to death.I felt like walking out as it seemed to be a load of rubbish which was making money off the werewolf franchise but after that i watched it again and it turned out to be one of those gems that gets better everytim you view it.
Now the positive side to this was stated above but it also is negative in that some people won't watch a film that they don't like twice.I only did it becasue it was on Sky TV one night ...

...from the original idea in An American Werewolf in London. But some sequels should never be made and this is one of the definetly. The story is 3 americans in Paris who find themselves in a strange world of werewolves. I wont waste my time writing anything more on this except to tell you--don`t watch it, watch the original american werewolf in london. The gore is limited, there's no suspense, and the decision to use computer technology to create the ...

Usually the sequel is never as good as the first, but this one is even better than the first. I found it to be a highly entertaining movie with tremendous special effects and the humour. The first was groundbreaking in terms of special effects but the humour was a bit dry. I found that the sequel was witty and thorougly enteraining. The only negative aspect was the lack of character the actors had. In the first one, alot of effort was placed in emphasising ...

Advantages: special effects, original storyline. Disadvantages: The ending was a little predictable and slightly tacky, a little disapointing.
Blade is a blood-chilling, action packed thriller about modern day vampires unlike any previously encoutered.
Wesley Snipes is BLADE , the ultimate vampire hunter, an immortal warrior who possesses the superhuman strength and cunning of a vampire but shares none of their weaknesses.
He is able to walk by day and stalk by night, Blade must confront his ultimate adversary, the omnipotent vampire overlord Deacon Frost played by Stephen Dorff, who is intent on leading an underground legion of vampires to conquer mankind.
I bought this amazing DVD primarily due to the hype and because I loved 'americanwerewolfinParis' and other vampire films. I like films where you can escape the real world and dive into a new one and this film really did that. I thoroughly enjoyed this film because of the storyline was original, the acting ...

Advantages: Wonderful black humour, atmospeheric, genuine shocks Disadvantages: Little dated in look maybe but essentially a timeless classic
this classic, 'An AmericanWerewolfinParis'.
Normally, I would err on the side of caution in recommending the purchase of any dvd I review, but if you are a horror fan with a taste for black humour, you will love this film. In an attempt to be objective, yes the film looks a little dated but in this case this merely adds to the character for me. If you decide to purchase, this is a movie that definitely stands up to repeat viewing. Real atmosphere, scares and humorous touches in perfect balance.
I hope this review helps you decide one way or another.

I’m sure many of you will have different opinions; nevertheless I have to say before Dog Soldiers, I had never seen a werewolf movie I really enjoyed:
‘Ginger Snaps’ didn’t do it for me, I thought ‘Brotherhood of the Wolf’ wasn’t great and I noticed the age in ‘An AmericanWerewolfin London/Paris’.
I first saw Dog Soldiers round a friends mid Last year, the very next week I brought it for myself on DVD. It is simply brilliant, best described as addictive and it is one of those films you can watch over and over again, still getting the same amount of excitement you received from the first time you watched it!
Dog Soldiers is classed as an action-horror, but I believe a wide – ranged audience can enjoy it. It is a fun film, filled with dark comedy, classy worth – ...

DVD Description
Ahh, the City of Lights, full of marvels to tempt three boorish American backpackers: the Champs-Elysees, the Left Bank, the racist gangs of disaffected young right-wing lycanthropes. After rescuing a desperate woman from a swan dive off the Eiffel tower, a collegian discovers her scary, hairy secret--too late. The direction emphasizes the cornball humor of its predecessor, "An American Werewolf in London," and a blitzkrieg of computer effects. .
