Hands up, who is afraid of lamps? Didn't think so., but just wait until you see this film and then we'll take a revote. Then I bet ...... yeah ...well still no-one will be afraid of lamps, bummer. Okay so the plot (I've wrote another review and got criticised for no info - apparently people like to know what a film is about before they watch. You people have no desire for suprise. What is wrong with you? Ask yourselves thatwrite yourself a little self evaluation. Then come back and rate my review)

Two decripid old women think it would be nice to buy their relative a really horrible lamp. That has come from the original Amity house. The lamp turns out to be haunted despite the excorcism of the house carried out by some priests at teh beginning of the film. It drives all the animals in the house a little crazy (which gets me on to thinking maybe evil lamps secrete ferimones - any thoughts?) Then the lamp does the dastardly deed of convincing the little girl it is her dead father thus tricking her. Only a young priest can help the family. WIll he succeed? What do you think? Do they ever not succeed?

This film does have a few jump out of your skin and drive your fingers nails into your mate's arm moments (I do it to make myself feel safe). But altogether it's not a great horror film. I mean it's a lamp. Horror films are menat to build on our existing fears; the unknown, emoty houses, hicks, dolls (dolls is mine) Not lamps. Also the special effects extravaganza at the end is somewhat disappointing.

There also some great comic moments in my mind anyway. Somewho the lamp manages to shove the parrot into the microwave and the little boy gets blamed. (You couldn't like the little boy or the parrot of you tired)

I've only sen teh original Amityville Horror film and then the modern remake and I have to admit the other two have much better stories and are much better made and scarier
