American Pie is my favourite film, and I have watched it on numerous occasions, I could probably play a part in it because I know most of the lines off by heart. I know it's sad, but what can I say, I'm easily amused. American Pie is a typical High School Teen comedy, which focuses on 4 high school mates, who make a pact to loose their virginity before their prom night. Sounds like a pretty boring film doesn't it? Well it is far from boring; American Pie has so many funny and embarrassing scenes that will make you laugh every time you watch it. Some of the funny scenes in the film are over exaggerated and took to the extremes at times, but I think this is what makes the film so funny and enjoyable to watch. Losing your virginity before your prom sounds easy, but for the four virgin guys in American Pie it is the total opposite. Each one of them takes a different approach with the ladies to try and fulfil their goal of losing their virginity before the prom. Jim Levenstein (Jason Briggs) is the main character in the film, and most of the embarrassing funny scenes evolve around him. Jim is quite a shy person who will
try anything in order to loose his virginity. I thought that one of the funniest scenes in the film involving Jim was at the start of the film when he was caught watching porn and masturbating in his room by his mum and dad. Jim and his mum were totally embarrassed by the situation, but Jim's dad didn't seem as embarrassed and even went out of his way and went and bought Jim some porn magazines which made Jim even more embarrassed. Jason Briggs really does play a great part in the film as Jim. No matter how many embarrassing situations he is caught in, his dad is always there to give him advice and help him out.
Kevin (Thomas Nicholas) has a long term girlfriend, so you would think that he would loose his virginity first. But his girlfriend Vicky wants their first time to be perfect and not just a spur of the moment thing, Kevin tries to persuade and bribe her at the beginning, but she's having none of it. Oz (Chris Klein) is in the High School Lacrosse team, he is quite an easy going straight to the point guy who has a sensitive side. So he joins the school choir in order to get closer to a pretty girl in the choir and show her that he is a sensitive guy and isn't like his other friends.
Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas) comes across as a sophisticated guy who likes the finer things in life. He pays a girl in his school to spread rumours about him that make him sound like some sort of sex god so as he can get a date for the prom and loose his virginity. Finch is really paranoid and won't use the school toilets so one of the characters in the film plays a prank on him which leaves him in a really funny situation. It's a bit of toilet humour, I don't want to ruin the film by telling you what it is about so you will have to watch it and see. Stiffler (Sean William Scott) is my favourite character in the film. He is a bit of a joker and a ladies man. He really dislikes Finch and goes out of his way to embarrass and humiliate him in the film. Stiffler is a funny character and Sean William Scott plays the part perfectly, his face expressions and use of words are so funny and have me laughing all the time.
American Pie is a must see comedy film it is rated 15 because of use of language, sexual humour and nudity and has a running time of 96 minutes. The actors are brilliant, and there are so many really funny scenes in the film which will have you in knots with laughter. There are also follow up films to American Pie which are equally as entertaining and hilarious. I could have written a lot more about the film but I didn't want too give away too much of the plot and funny scenes which will have you laughing out loud. So if you are a comedy fan then I highly recommend this film, you won't be disappointed. Jason Biggs ~ Jim Levenstein Chris Klein ~ Oz Eddie Kaye Thomas ~ Finch Seann William Scott ~ Stiffler Thomas Ian Nicholas ~ Kevin Tara Reid ~ Kevin's girlfriend, Vicky Natasha Lyonne ~ Jessica Alyson Hannigan ~ Michelle Eugene Levy ~ Jim's Dad Mena Suvari ~ Heather Jennifer Coolidge ~ Stiffler's Mom Chris Owen ~ Sherman Shannon Elizabeth ~ Nadia Eli Marienthal ~ Stiffler's little brother
