American Pie is about 4 high school guys who are all virgins. At a party they make a pat that they will all lose their virginity before they graduate. The movie takes you through how they choose their prom dates, and the research they do into sex, so that they are ready for the big night. They all go through humiliation and frustration as they work up to the big night, which does not happen for them all.
The film is about four friends, Jim (Jason Biggs), Kevin (Thomas Ian Nicholas), Chris/Oz (Chris Klein) and Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas). The movie also stars Stiffler (Seann William Scott), Jessica (Natasha Lyonne), Vicki (Tara Reid), and Heather (Mena Suvari).
A little about the characters: Jim is the main character in the movie (and the other 2 movies that follow). He knows very little about women and gets shy in front of them and ends up doing stupid things and embarrassing himself.
Kevin is in a long-term relationship with his girlfriend Vicki. Although he is in a long-term relationship, he has not had sex and is beginning to get desperate. He struggles to fight temptation to keep his girlfriend happy, so turns to his brother for advice for how he can please his girlfriend.
Chris, aka Oz, is a jock, he plays Lacrosse. He starts of as a straight up guy who basicaaly says what he feels and wants. After having a date where he gets told that the best way to get himself a girl is to be sensitive to their needs, he starts to be more sensitive, he listens to girls and try’s to say the right things. He then joins the choir where he meets a girl and falls in love.
Finch who is just as much lacking in the field of girls as his friends, appears to be more sophisticated of the four. He seeks help from a friend to help him get a date for the prom, which ends up back firing on him.
Stiffler is the male slut of the movie. He sleeps within anything with a pulse. He knows everything he needs to know about scoring with a girl, and he uses his moves and lines to pull any girl he wants to. He is rude but throws the best parties, but his friends find his hard to stand.
The movie is absolutely hilarious and shows how many people feel and what they go through before they have sex for the first time, the humiliation, the frustration and the angst. Watch as the four friends help each other through the tough times and get them to the start line to where they can only finish on their own. There are a number of scenes which will having you laughing out loud, for examples, at the party at the beginning of the movie where Stiffler drinks a ‘pale ale’, where Jim masturbates with baked goods, and when Finch finally goes for a dump at school but in the ladies restroom.
The movie doesn’t have many serious moments, but there are moments in the movie which you can consider to be serious like when Jim and his dad have ‘the talk’, but even the serious scenes are funny and you can feel the embarrassment for the character. All in all the movie is just made to make you laugh and it just shows what some people go through for sex. The movie is definitely worth watching. The only down side of the movie is, that it is portrayed from a male perspective and you don’t get to see what women go through, just men.
