Released in 2003, "American Pie - The Wedding" is the third in the series of films, from Universal Studios, which follows the hilarious mishaps and slapstick antics of Jim and his friends as they continue to pursue any eligible female who is unfortunate enough to cross their paths.

It lasts for around 1 hour 39 minutes and I bought the film on DVD which was the uncut version.

~~~ Characters ~~~
It would be helpful to familiarise yourself with the main characters before reading the rest of this review.
JIM
Jim is a vulnerable young man, inexperienced with women except for Michelle, and is the main focus of the film.
He has a big heart and is always looking to do the right thing, although has a tendency to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
He is very unlucky - if it can go wrong, then it will - badly wrong !
Jim has a tendency to take bad advice - all the time.
JIM's DAD
Jim's dad is always there to offer advice to his son and you kind of get the impression that everything that happens to Jim, has also happened to his Dad when he was younger.
Jim's dad finds it hard to express himself and often chooses words that embarass his son, prompting the phrase, "Dad - I don't want us ever to talk about this again", to which his dad replies, "okay son".
MICHELLE
Michelle is Jim's girlfriend of 3 years and is about to become Jim's wife.
Michelle likes sex, the kinkier the better, despite coming from a respectable background - her parents still think she is a virgin due to her "band camp" upbringing.
They obviously don't know about the alternate use she had for her flute.......
STIFLER
Stifler is a stereotypical American jock - wealthy parents and a strong personality.
He is also the rudest, most outrageous person you could ever have the misfortune to meet.
He cannot string together a sentence without generous helpings of profanity - sometimes whole sentences contain nothing BUT profanity !
Stifler will do anything to get laid - in the 2nd film this included a gay kiss to try and get 2 girls to provide some girl-on-girl action. In this film he goes even further !
He is my favourite character by far and really makes this film as funny as it is.
THE OTHERS
Finch and Kevin make up the rest of the gang - Finch and Stifler hate each other ever since Finch slept with Stifler's mum - twice.
Kevin doesn't have a very strong presence in this film for some reason.
There's also Cayden (think that's how it's spelt) who is Michelle's sister and the object of both Finch and Stifler's attentions.
Jim's grandma is worth mentioning as she appears in a hilarious scene with Stifler in the closet.
Michelle's parents, along with Jim, are the pivotal point of the film with Jim trying to impress them at all costs.
The Strippers - wow, you just have to see them to see why I have mentioned them here.
The "bear" - the gay man that the gang neet in Chicago and who helps out with the wedding preparations and bachelor party.
~~~ The Storyline (roughly) ~~~

In "The Wedding", 3 years have passed since the main characters graduated from High School, and the first scene depicts Jim preparing to propose to his girlfriend Michelle in a fancy restaurant.
In typical "Pie" fashion, Jim's meticulous planning and preparation goes spectacularly wrong - partly due to Jim forgetting to bring the ring but mostly due to Michelle's misinterpretation of Jim's intentions.
So Jim ends up minus his trousers, his Dad watching in the wings, proposing to Michelle whilst the entire clientele stare in amazement at his obvious "excitement" (growing larger by the second !).

We soon learn that Jim has not invited his old friend Stifler to his wedding for fear that Stifler's outrageousl behaviour will offend any of the strait-laced guests, particularly Michelle's parents who he hasn't yet met and is anxious to portray to them that he is perfect son-in-law material.

Stifler, who cannot complete a sentence without including multiple profanities, is determined to get an invite, even if that means pretending to be a reformed character that the vicar would be proud of.
The fact that Michelle's gorgeous (and available) younger sister is also going to the wedding, is an added incentive for Stifler to clean up his act (on the outside at least).

His opportunity to make himself indispensable arrives when it emerges that Jim cannot dance and is dreading the moment on his big day when he has to take to the dancefloor with Michelle.
So, in return for teaching Jim to dance, Stifler gets an invite.

Jim also has a mission to complete when he learns that Michelle has set her heart on a wedding dress only available from a top designer in Chicago.
So the whole gang - Jim, Stifler, Finch and Kevin - all head for the windy city in search of the elusive designer - and end up in one of Chicago's gay bars where Stifler steals the show. Cue some cheesy 1980s music and dance moves with Stifler competing against a gay "bear" to prove how desirable he is, even to other men !!

Eventually, after a few more hilarious incidents, Jim and Michelle's big day arrives and the happy couple get their fairytale wedding despite all the odds.
And in keeping with the previous 2 films, Finch gets to bed Stifler's mum - again.

~~~ My Favourite Bit ~~~
I was going to choose the bachelor party, but despite the nudity and stunning women it was beaten into second place by the scene where Jim tells Stifler that hasn't been invited to the wedding.
Stifler is at soccer practice, and it goes something like this :-
Stifler : "I'm not invited ?"
Jim: "No"
Stifler: "You f*cking donkey d*ck sucker !!"
Stifler (to his soccer team): "WHO SUCKS DONKEY D*CK ?"
The entire soccer team: "JIM - JIM SUCKS DONKEY D*CK !!"
Absoluely hilarious !! And my new phrase for the next few weeks no doubt.
~~~ My Thoughts On This Film ~~~

I found this film hilarious from start to end - I can honestly say that I haven't laughed at a film so much in a very long time.

Whilst every scene was filled with mostly vulgour hilarity, I did find that the bachelor party seemed a bit out of place in this film. The humour was spot on but it just didn't seem to fit in very well - almost like the producers had decided to include a sexy scene but didn't quite know where to put it.

Also, in the last 2 films Kevin played a key part but in "The Wedding", he doesn't have a strong role at all and is relegated to the sidelines in almost every scene.

Even Michelle, whilst central to the storyline, doesn't appear on screen for very much of the 1 hour 39 minute runtime.

One of the best things though, is that not only are the verbal exchanges very funny, the facial expressions will also have you in stitches - especialy where Stifler is standing behind Michelle's mum and when Finch sees Stifler eating the "Chocolate" truffle.

~~~ Would I Recommend This Film ~~~
Definitely - with a certificate 15, you won't be showing this to your children, but if you liked any of the previous 2 films then you will absolutely love this one.
I found myself laughing out loudly and almost choked on a glass of beer as I watched this film.
Some of the scenes make you cringe but for all the right reasons and you can really relate to the himour.
As I bought this film on DVD for £6.99 from CDWOW I'll definitely be watching this over and over again.
~~~ And Finally ~~~

Do you like chocolate truffles ? I did - until I saw this film and now I won't look at them quite the same again.......that's all I'm saying !

I'd forgotten all about this film. I haven't seen it since the cinema. The chocolate truffle scene is hilarious. I think I'll have to rent this soon.
