As I was browsing the Internet a few months back on the QuickTime website with movie trailers I came across a title and I thought to myself “No it can’t possibly..” I clicked the title, which read “American Wedding” and awaited the trailer loading. When it was fully loaded and began to play my suspicions were true a third “American Pie” movie. I couldn’t wait.
One Wednesday I sat in my room on the computer at the height of my boredom thinking of what to do. It was then that my good friend J_Mcb suggested the cinema (my new home) we had heard that special previews of the American Wedding movie were showing on Thursday and so we invited some friends to come along. I was so excited this was the first Pie movie that I could see at the cinema as for the first and second I was too young and so the idea of seeing it at the cinema the day before its official release was amazing!
So off we trotted into the cinema clutching our drinks and popcorn with excitement bubbling inside as the trailers came up on the big screen. The cinema was crammed with people, which, I really wasn’t expecting, in the special previews but anyway the film started (thankfully without that stupid orange advert I don’t know if its just my cinema that annoys us with it)
~*~ The Cast ~*~
Michelle Flaherty– Alison Hannigan Jim Levinstein – Jason Biggs Steve Stiffler – Sean William Scott Kevin - Thomas Ian Nicholas Finch – Eddie Kaye Thomas Cadence Flaherty – January Jones Bear - Eric Allan Kramer Jim’s Dad – Eugene Levy
Yes you’ve noticed correctly that there’s no Chris Klein (I was gutted at first he’s so gorgeous!) no Mena Suvari and no
Tara Reid but to be honest I barely noticed they weren’t there it wasn’t up until half way through I noticed that Oz was missing from the boys group and to top that I didn’t know it was Oz I just asked “Wasn’t there five of them before?” So it may sound a bit of a let down that they aren’t there at first but to be honest I felt like the film didn’t need them.
Director - Jesse Dylan Producer – Adam Herz

~*~ The Plot ~*~
The film opens with a great song (quite a naughty song may I add) leading us into a restaurant where Jim is dining with Michelle. Like “American Pie 2” this film again opened with Jim making a complete arse out of himself. This scene is one of the main features of the trailer and so some people may have already seen what happens. Jim proposes to Michelle in the restaurant and they begin to plan their wedding.
Jim is due to meet Michelle’s parents for the first time at their engagement party but, it wouldn’t be the true American Pie spirit if this all went along nice and smoothly. With the help of Stiffler and the Flaherty’s family dogs Jim manages to get himself in a complete mess which doesn’t create the greatest impression with his future mother and father in law. Jim tries to resolve the problem with the Flahertys but its clear that their mind is made up. Jim is also faced with the problem of Stiffler. Michelle really does not want him to attend the wedding and so Jim is left with the duty of having to tell Stiffler he is not invited Stiffler however turns everything round so that he can come as Jim also needs to learn to dance – something Stiffler can do!
After this point the wedding planning begins to hit some other obstacles, which Jim must tackle. Michelle wants a dress designed by a particular designer and so the boys drive up the country to get it. The boys find themselves searching various clubs but our dear friend Stiffler finds himself muddled up in a crowd he really doesn’t want to be in – a gay bar. This leads to my favourite point of the whole film a dance off between Stiffler and a gay friend of the dress designer. The designer agrees to make the dress and Stiffler gets himself a couple of ladies for the bachelor party!
Because of the wedding Michelle’s younger sister Cadence flies in to be the maid of honour. Its love at first site for Finch and his rival Stiffler. This leads to one of the most hilarious subplots in which we see a completely different side to each of the characters. Cadence eats up both performances and is in a dilemma of which man she prefers. This sub-plot has some of the best one-liners and witty scenes in it. The characters of Stiffler and Finch develop a lot in this movie as Stiffler is starting to grow up and become a better person and Finch is finally over Stiffler’s Mom.
All in all the film is just like the other two, amazingly good fun.
~*~ My Opinion ~*~
This addition to the Pie movies is brilliant. Like the other two films it hilarious and great fun. The acting in the film was excellent as well. Jason Biggs did an excellent job of the clumsy Jim. Jason entertained me throughout the film with his famous talks with Dad and all of the mishaps that he gets himself into. Alison Hannigan who is best known for her part as Willow in “Buffy” gives another amazing performance as the band geek nympho Michelle. In this movie I thought that the character had grown up so much. I was quite disappointed that I didn’t hear my phrase “And this one time at Band camp!” but it was great to see that underneath the band geek was an intelligent mature young lady.
As expected Stiffler completely made the film for me! He’s back and up to all his old tricks. It was great to see Stiffler evolve a bit more and by the end of the film he has really matured. Sean William Scott is brilliant as Stiffler and he is really convincing in his role. This time round Kevin has taken a bit of a back seat in the film. He’s not in the spotlight as much as he was in the first two movies but this could be put down to the fact that Vicky (Tara Reid) is missing from the gang. Finch or Finch-meister is excellent in this film. We see a completely different side to Finch in this film and like Stiffler his character matures and Eddie Kaye Thomas is brilliant in the role. The sub plot between and Stiffler had me laughing constantly.
January Jones was very much a welcome addition to the cast she did a really good job as Michelle’s younger sister. She was convincing in her role and she showed off her true acting talents. Eric Alan Kramer was also a welcome addition. We first meet his character Bear in the dance off. Bear is gay and adds some great humour to the film. The bachelor party had me in stitches.
Even though some of the gang weren't in the movie it was still Brilliant. As I said above I didnt't notice they were missing until half way through. I suppose its very dependant on who your favourite characters are and Oz was never mine.
The soundtrack to the movie has some great songs on and features artists such as Avril Lavigne, Good Charlotte and the All American Rejects. Like the other two films the album has a bit of a rock theme but it all adds great effect to the film. My favourite song from the album would have to be “Laid” by Matt Nathanson. This song opens the film and the lyrics are rather naughty.
I would recommend this film to anyone who wants a good laugh. There is however a lot of bad language used and so if that sort of thing offends you then this definitely isn’t a film for you. If you enjoyed the first two films then you’ll love this one!
Thanx for reading Jenni xx :O)

Another good review of yet another film I'm yet to see, but then I also missed American Pie 2 as well, shall have to watch both of them :)

I have to agree you barely notice that a few of the original gang are missing, which was something that worried me about this. I think its a good thing this was the last one though as they would probably start running out of ideas for any more
