American Pie returns for its fourth outing following the adventures of Steve Stifler's younger brother Matt (Tad Hilgenbrink) as he is dispatched to Band Camp for the summer due to the pranks that he played during the last semester of school. Although he hates the idea of Band Camp he decides to make the most of it, with a series of practical jokes he plans to play on the rest of the campers along with winning the respect of his brother by making an undercover video of all the rumored outlandish behavior such as wild parties and freaky sex with instruments.
What Matt does not expect is the friendship he strikes up with Band Leader Elyse (Arielle Kebbel) who he falls in love with. Also he starts to see the error of his ways and tries to make up for it but each time his best intentions never seem to turn out the right way, although in the end his final plan does go as he wanted and gains the respect of all his new friends.
Along the way there are a couple of sub stories with new Band Camp Nerd, Ernie Kaplowitz (Jason Earles) falling in love with hot band chick Chloe (Crystle Lightning) and Elyse beating her Band Camp enemy into getting a scholarship
to a music collage.
Although the regular cast of the American Pie movies have moved on, there is a cameo by Chris Owen as Chuck Sherman (Sherminator), as the school counselor who punishes Matt by sending him to Band Camp. Plus the excellent Eugene Levy returns as Jim's dad who is working as a counselor at the band camp, as Jim and Michelle are expecting a baby.

In general this has been well cast with Tad easily following in the role of a Stifler and with the excellent perormance of Eugene Levy.

Comes in a standard DVD case, with a white cover, featuring a picture of the main characters on the front.
Bonus Material
You get the usual scene selection which consists of 18 different scenes; unfortunately they only numbered the scenes where as I'm sure they could have given each scene a unique funny title.
The only language selection on the DVD was English along with only English subtitles.
There is a selection of outtakes which lasts for about 4 minutes which includes the standard forgotten lines, using the wrong names and cast generally having a good laugh.
There is also a selection of deleted scenes (about 11 minutes), unfortunately they are not listed separately and just play continuously. To be honest there are no real scenes which would have contributed to the film.
You also get a video diary of the film by Arielle and Tad which shows a lot of behind the scenes footage and gives a bit of background information on Arielle and Tad as well as an explanation to some of the terms used in the film.
There is also a tour of band camp by 2 of the camps 2 hot counsellors along with footage of some of the scenes being filmed.
Then there is some footage from the secret rovercam which is basically more footage that they didn't use in the film. I'm not sure if this footage was ever intended for the actual film but does add to the value of the DVD.
And finally you get a music video (Baby Got Back) featuring some of the hottest members of the cast dancing in bikinis.
Conclusion & Rating
This film is very entertaining as were all the other American Pie films. Although we are given a whole new set of cast, the film still manages to carry on the tradition of the other films with ease and effectiveness. The DVD as a package is excellent value, with loads of extra features. I honestly hope they do make another American Pie movie as each one brings much enjoyment to the fans of American Pie back in 1999.
The soundtrack is what you would expect from the movie with your standard teenage punk rock tracks which carry you from scene to scene, but doesn't add to the storyline.
I would give this a rating of 6 out of 10 as it is very entertaining and you will definitely watch it more than once.
