...about how an Indian born American struggles to fit in and understand his culture. This is a must see movie. I have seen this several times, and it is just as funny the last time I saw it as it was the first time I saw it. The characters:
Kris is an American Indian who is not into his Indian roots and hates everything about his culture, until he meets Nina. He is studying engineering at college and lives with 3 other Indians. Nina is an American ... ...see how Salim’s opinions of American Indian’s changes as he finds out more about them, and what is like for them in America. The movie does use Indian words on a number of occasions, but you are given subtitles so you can see what is being said. Some of the jokes are Indian, so if you are not Indian, you may not understand them, never-the-less, the movie is definitely worth watching because it is so funny. ...know, an ABCD is an American Born Confused Desi (Asian).
The ABCD we have in this instance is Krishna (Kris)
who is embarassed by his Asian family and, when he goes to college, his Asian flatmates. The only Indian he is keen on is
a fellow student (Nina), who's definitely not an ABCD. She loves her culture, and the story revloves around how
tries to impress her but ends up on the wrong side of her by showing just how much he hates being Asian.
... ...just some of the issues they have with where they belong. Most of the characters in the film are both American and Indian without any issues. Kris represents those that perhaps are too ditzy to realise they can be both.
