Advantages: great play,dialogue and characters.good actors Disadvantages: boring.same set all through.The director was bored!
American Buffalo is one of the best and most popular David Mammet plays.Written in late seventies,it was the play that made its writer famous.It is the story of two crooks,Teach and Don, who plan a robbery which never takes place.
The play's biggest virtue is its dialogue.Mamet's dialogues are so unique that a new term was invented:Mametspeak,which is of course the singular way that his character's express themselves.
The dialogue is the centre ... ...have seen great performances of American buffalo on stage(both in uk and in America).I recently saw on video its movie version which was a huge dissapointment.The acting is ok(Dustin Hoffman is always good anyway),but the directing is appauling!It is as if the whole movie is a recording of a stage production!!!In order for a play to work as a movie,one must make some changes!!For a film audience,it is extremely tiring to watch three people talking ...
