This is the most undeserving oscar nominated film that i have ever come accross! I dont see any reason for the film to be rated so highly all over. The plot is downright cheap and the execution is no better!Avoid this film if you don't want to fume with anger after watching a film! I dont remember seeing such a stupid film ever,i had my expectations, reading my 5oscar nominations,or was it 5 wins?It was one forgettable experiences and i dont even remember much,i just remember i hated it like nothing else. This was my Sam mendes film and i remember having a really bad impression of him as a director and as a person after watching this film. I guess its pretty hard to make a good film out of a story involving a middle aged guy falling in love with a teenage girl who happens to be his daughter's friend. In my opinion,it could have been more subtle and subdued in dealing with the feelings and emotions, but it chose the opposite path which brought it down to cheapness and vulgurity for me.Kevin Spacey being such a renowned name(another over-rated actor in my point of view) should have resisted away from this film. Everything from the performances to the way the film has been treated was terrible. It was just not my taste i guess, because i still see people liking the film for no logical reason! If you feel oscars are always correct, then give this film a try! I am sure you will feel differently, you might as well stay away from Mendes's other films, but do make sure to see revolutionary road, that is a far better film from the same director.
