what can i say,the oscars said it all.kevin spacey is great as lester a man who after long suffering takes his life in his hands and turns into the man every male wants to be.this film oozes greatness and i feel is one of the best films i have ever seen.annete benning plays his wife, a women so focused on her career as a failing real estate worker she falls for the real estate king due to her own self hatred for her husband.thora birch is amazing as daughter jane and she oozes sex appeal and shows up mena 'american pie' suavari in my opinion.kevin spaceys character is great when he blackmails his boss,buys his dream car,becomes addicted to dope,fantazing about his daughters best friend and working at the local burger bar and this film keeps you engrossed to the end.this film shows an american family warts and all and doesnt fail to deliver.jane lester(thora birch's character) seems to hate her life for real and when her new neighbor moves in she finds someone to share her inner pain despite him bieng a drug dealer and having a manic father and very sick mother. it has a great twist at the end and defintly a great film to watch
