This film is set around the main character, Lester, and his life. He is in an unhappy marriage and his daughter seems to be going through that "teenage stage". Everything in his life seems bad and then things go down hill big time when he develops a crush on his daughter's best friend. All in all, Lester seems to be having a bit if a mid life crises. Without giving away the whole film, things go steadily down hill for Lester and his family, and never pick up again.
This is a really good film but it did drift for a bit in the middle as not alot seemed to be happening. Putting this aside, I think that this is the best film that I have seen for a bit and I can see why it was nominated for all those oscars.
There is a deeper message to this film though and I think that it is trying to get people to look at their lives differently. Maybe we take too much notice fo the bad things and not enough of the good. Maybe we should appreciate the things we have rather than moan about what we haven't got!
