America - Live In Concert DVD

...Without much introduction, this IS the work of a GENIUS! And the only one around… I don't think I can actually find the right words to portray the monumental values of this live DVD album. It is the faithful reproduction of Waters' tour in America in 2001. The tour then moved to Europe and ended in August in London. I was fortunate enough to see it and I'm fairly convinced I'm not going to see a better concert again. For those of you who saw the London concert live, this DVD shows an identical performance This DVD will make you stand and marvel in awe. The writer of Pink Floyd's "The Wall" has the rare merit of creating the vision of sound which then translates as sharp social satire structured on the artistic skeleton of texts/lyrics which are true poetry. Advantages: Very good clips of the band doing what they do best !
Disadvantages: Doesnt show all songs from Glastonbury : (

...Let me start by saying that i am a mahoosive MUSE fan and i really wanted to go to see them at glastonbury as i just knew it would be an amazing gig. So i took the less hassle option of waiting for this DVD to be released after the concert! Muse have been around since 1996 and from then on they have wowwed audiences all around the world and have been officially labelled as "the best band live" which i would 100% agree with after seeing them perform. The band concicts of Matthew Bellamy on Vocals, Guitar and piano - Dominic Howard on drums and Chris wolstenholme on Bass and vocals and piano for the odd song too. The band play what i would call 'Progressive Rock' the band manage to create a huge amount of sound despite only have three members who are constantly trying new things in music, which is why there songs never die down... Advantages: Great extras section with footage from Europe.
Disadvantages: Feels disjointed as each song is from a different gig.

...A must have for any serious Pearl Jam fan but also a great selection of their back catalogue for any new fan looking to get a good feel for their sound. The songs are taken from a series of concerts on the North America tour leg which makes the whole thing feel a little bit disjointed and their is little interaction with the crowd between songs due to the editing. All in all though, their are some great perfomances oh here and the extras section has some great extra footage from the Europe leg of this tour. However, if you must choose between this and Live at the Garden, go for the Live at the Garden DVD which has a much more intimate feel to it.... Read review
