The DVD is easy to navigate, you can either watch the concert from begining to end, or select the song you want to see off the setlist and will be taken to the begining of that song.
The performance itself is a typical Amen performance, with chaos throwing himself around stage, winding up the fans and giving it 110%. HOWEVER, the performance has been tainted slightly, by several cheesy effects on the DVD, it would be better as just plain performances. Mayday, has sound problems in the middle, so you cannot hear casey's vocals...from a microphone problem, which does spoil the song slightly. A highlight of the DVD is watching many fans jumping in time to "Buy American" and the bands glee as they have control over them! Also Casey gives a pretty good speach in the middle of Drive, and proves he isnt as stupid as some people may think!
As a typical Amen performance, several times Casey jumps off giant amp stacks...a treat to see! He nearly knocks other band members off their feet (and suceeds to once or twice) which is amusing.
The best songs to watch on this DVD have to be Whores of hollywood, the waiting 18 and heres the poison. There is no songs terrible to watch, but id say the first few and last few arent as amusing as the mid few songs, more due to lack of reaction from the crowd than the band itself.
For anyone who's seen amen live, they will realise this DVD never gives the fear you get in your stomach, nor the excitment as front man Chaos appears on stage. BUT it does capture alot of atmosphere for a live DVD, but as i said before cheesy effects sometimes obstructs the view of the concert, slightly spoiling a good performance.
I'd suggest this for people unable to see amen live, and people who want to know what to expect from an Amen gig. But as for fans who have seen this many a time before but in person...it is a slight dissapointment through the DVD companies/producers fault.
The DVD itself, doesnt look too official. Two intresting mistakes are on the back tracklisting. Drive has been called D.R.I.V.E incorrectly. Also for a somewhat weird (and amusing) thing to see is that under the robe, is called under the rope on this DVD.
Personally, id much rather see a raw production of a concert, in which no cheesy effects eclipse the real performances. However, this DVD is still a good buy.
Advantages: Perfectly captures the band in action, nice artwork Disadvantages: Really for fans only, difficult to get hold of
I am a self confessed Amen fan boy. Therefore my opinion of this DVD is somewhat unavoidably biased. I'll start by saying that For fans of the band, this DVD is a great reminder of how great they are live, the power and intensity of Casey Chaos and his ever changing band of merry men. For those who aren't familiar with the band, but are looking for some anthemic, violent and explosive punk tinged metal (or metal tinged punk!) I;d reccomend listening ... ...broken strings at times, but thats beside the point. I don't think there would be any point in watching a live dvd if a band are simply going through the motions, Amen could never be accused of that!
All in all a brutal, rough edged package...and oerfect because of it! ...

DVD Description
Filmmaker Costa-Gavras (MAD CITY, MUSIC BOX, MISSING) has a reputation for controversial political cinema, and he does not fail to raise eyebrows with AMEN. Focusing on the Vatican's unwillingness to oppose the Holocaust, and two men who tried to change the system from within, AMEN is adapted from the play THE REPRESENTATIVE by Rolf Hochhuth. It is based on a true story about officer Kurt Gerstein (Ulrich Tukur), a Nazi soldier who moved up the SS ranks by devising a chemical method to purify soldiers' drinking water. Gerstein is unaware of the horrors of the concentration camps until he is recruited by "The Doctor" (Ulrich Muhe) to adapt the same chemical for use in the gas chambers. Though Gerstein is overwhelmed by the reality of the impending massacre, he does not turn a blind eye. He informs the Swedes, the German Protestant Church, and even the Vatican. But he is sent away, dismissed, and otherwise silenced by all but the tenacious Father Riccardo Fontana (Mathieu Kassovitz), a fictitious character based on a number of priests who fought against the Holocaust. Father Riccardo takes life-threatening risks in a fruitless effort to convince the cardinal (Michel Duchaussoy) and the Pope (Marcel Iures) to rise above their fears of Nazi retribution.
