Review:
Released just a few years before a similar British film, ZULU, this 1962 English gladiator film depicts the tiny army of Sparta and their efforts to stave off an attack by Persian forces which greatly outnumbered the Spartans. Led by King Leonidis (Richard Egan), the Spartans army consisted primarily of a security force who guarded the palace. This rousing gladiator epic boasts an incredible cast including Diane Baker, Ralph Richardson, and Kieron Moore.

Advantages: Epic Film - prequel to an epic Disadvantages: Not an epic itself
...From the pen of Cy Endfield, one ofthe co-writers of the epic Zulu staring Michael Cane comes this prequel to the film that e watch every christmas.
Set in 1879, this film depicts the catastrophic Battle of Isandhlwana, which remains the worst defeat of the British army by natives--the British contingent was outnumbered 16-to-1 by the Zulu tribesmen.

Burt Lancaster .... Col. Durnford
Simon Ward .... Lt. William Vereker
Denholm Elliott .... Colonel Pulleine
Peter Vaughan .... Q.S.M. Bloomfield
James Faulkner .... Lt. Melvill
Christopher Cazenove .... Lt. Coghill
Bob Hoskins .... C.S.M. Williams
I am split on this review while I think that it is worth watching because of Zulu, this film does build...

Advantages: great film, plenty of action... Disadvantages: why do you just stand around?
...The Warriors, set in the late 70's sees unity of gangs who outnumber the police 5 to 1 in New York City. They plan on running the town together as one due to their enormous size, however, the leader in charge of this is murdered, and the Warriors get blamed. They lose their leader and so tension is brought between the second in command and a hard nut soldier ( well he thinks he's hard )
The warriors must go on the run within the urban jungle, fighting to save their lives and their gang members. They learn the meaning of true loyalty.
My View
The storyline to the film is great, it depicts the meaning of gang warfare and consolidates this action very cleverly into one night.
I was pretty amazed with the actors and with them getting their feelings across to the audience; sometimes I actually felt as if I was in the film, the action...
