Advantages: big names, pretty women Disadvantages: no hunks, limited laughs

Claude (Hank Azaria) appears one afternoon, offering them a scuba lesson. Reuben is Mr Play It Safe and has never done anything slightly daring in his life, so he won’t be persuaded to try the sport. However, ... ...Reuben tells her to go ahead and have fun and he’ll meet her later.
Grabbing a bottle of champagne, he heads for Claude’s boat at 4pm, as promised. However, when he climbs on board, he sees something he wished he hadn’t. Lisa’s playing flapping the flipper in bed with Claude! Reuben is devastated. For him the honeymoon is literally over and he returns to New York alone, to try and re-build his life.

Advantages: Entertaining enough Disadvantages: No hint of attraction between Stiller and Aniston, Stiller and Messing
Reuben, a risk assessment consultant, thinks his life is complete. He has a beautiful wife and a great job with lots of money. Then his wife, Lisa, meets a sexy scuba diver on their honeymoon and Reuben finds them in a compromising position. Humiliated, he returns home without his new wife and without much self-esteem either. A couple of weeks later, while still licking his wounds, he bumps into Polly, someone he used to know from school. Despite ... ...are attracted to each other: Reuben is always assessing risk in side and outside of his job and often fails to take chances because of this, whereas Polly likes to experiment and gets bored when she is not challenged. Can they compromise and find a way to live their life together, or are they too different to be a couple? I must admit I don't often choose to watch rom-coms, but occasionally, it is pleasant to sit down and watch something that requires ...

Advantages: A great feel good movie, really funny, enjoyable Disadvantages: non!
I've wanted to watch this for quite a while now but being the cheapskate that I am, I waited for it to come out to rent so I wouldn't have to pay ridiculous prices at the cinema lol. I've heard a lot of bad things about this film and a lot of comments that Jennifer Anniston can't act etc but I have to admit, after watching it and giving it a good grilling I really have to say that I loved it!
*** What is 'Along Came Polly'? ***
It's your wedding ... ...You jet off on your honeymoon, arrive safely and happily, you're having a great time on the beach. In fact things couldn't get any better. And they don't. In fact it's safe to say your whole life gets turned upside down in one afternoon when you find your husband/wife in bed with another person. Well that's exactly what happened to Reuben Feffer.
Reuben married Lisa Kramer thinking he would live happily ever after, he even bought a house that they ...

Advantages: Good cast, stellar support by Baldwin and Hoffman. Disadvantages: Weak gags, shallow, not as good as it could be
...so expect a few bumps along the way. It's pretty predictable stuff to be honest but it's Hoffmans Sandy Lyle and Baldwins Indursky that helps the film punch above its weight.
Predictability aside, worse is the lack of screen chemistry between the two main protagonists. If you're going to have a romantic comedy then the two leads have to sizzle and pop like bacon in a pan and the electricity has to be palpable between them. Despite Stiller's and ... ...The director seems to be more interested in setting up the next comedic set-piece and relying on comedy 'staples' than developing the relationship between Reuben and Polly. Witness the first date between the two - after digesting an almost unpalatable ethnic meal, Reubens irritable bowel syndrome decides to make an appearance giving cues for lots of toilet-related hi-jinks. In my eyes, a cheap gag at the expense of properly-developed characterization.

Advantages: funny in some places Disadvantages: no chemistry, weak story
First of all, I must point out that this is a film-only review. I do not own this film on DVD, but have seen it on TV a couple of times now. ~The Story~
The movie begins with Reuben Feffer (Ben Stiller) getting married to his girlfriend of four years, Lisa (Debra Messing). They head off on honeymoon to the island of St. Barts, and while there, they meet Claude (Hank Azaria), a French scuba diving instructor, who has a penchant for walking around ... ...a scuba diving lesson with Claude, and Reuben goes to Claude's boat to surprise Lisa with a bottle of Champagne. He is shocked to find them in bed together - still wearing their flippers!
Heartbroken, Reuben goes back to New York alone. His friend Sandy (Philip Seymour Hoffman), an actor who has had only one role in his life, yet has a hugely over-inflated opinion of himself, encourages Reuben to accompany him on a night out. It is here that he ...

DVD Description
Writer-director John Hamburg, (writer of ZOOLANDER and MEET THE PARENTS), teams once again with Ben Stiller to make an offbeat character study that is guaranteed to induce helpless laughter. Reuben, an overanxious insurance risk analyst (Stiller), weighs his every action by assessing pros and cons. He finds himself dumped on his honeymoon by fickle wife Lisa (Debra Messing) who runs off with Jacques, a nudist scuba instructor (Hank Azaria). A few days later, Reuben is back in New York at a pretentious gallery opening, wondering why he's bothering to test the waters so soon, when along comes Polly Price (Jennifer Aniston), a quirky, worldly, adventurous soul, whose only flaw appears to be a generalised lack of commitment. The formerly germ-obsessed, controlling Reuben is transformed by Polly's free spirit, her predilection for spicy food, and her pet ferret. Her love of salsa dancing makes him jealous and painfully uncomfortable. But his heart is aflame. Hamburg, who began his directorial career with SAFE MEN, has proven himself a reliable producer of charming realism and a brand of comedy comparable to that of the Farrelly brothers. Editor William Kerr has an extraordinary sense of comic timing, which gives ALONG CAME POLLY's funny factor a boost. Stiller's salsa solo is striking--the actor is actually an amazing dancer. Last but not least, Philip Seymour Hoffman (PUNCH DRUNK LOVE, FLAWLESS) nearly steals the show as Reuben's best friend Sandy Lyle who plays both Jesus and Judas in a community production of GODSPELL.
