I am as big (or bigger) sci-fi/horror geek as the next person, but this film is truely dire!! From the terrible acting, to the impossible to follow and basically lazy, non-existant story line, it really is 86 minutes of your life you will never get back again, and you will grudge every one of those loooong minutes. The first AvP was admitedly pretty bad, but at least it was slightly enjoyable fluff. There are no real redeeming features here. It has gross killing after gross killing. There is no suspense, no interest in the characters, who are so one dimensional they could be made of cardboard. The only feeling I got when they were randomly mutilated and killed was "oh was that her from the cafe? or her from other place, oh god who cares!" One scene in particular at the hospital is frankly revolting and quite unneccessary.
The film is just one cliche after another. Alien and Predator hybrid (could have been a great idea) crashes on Earth with a Predator hot on its heels, clearing up any evidence it leaves behind (no idea why, they dont do anything as silly as make that clear). Small town America where everyone knows each other from the 'troubled teen' (who is about 36) to the local sheriff, is somehow transformed into a big city when we see the lights go out in the powercut - another thing that seems to be in the film for the sole purpose of making it even more annoying and harder to watch. It was frankly painful to watch, if you have any affection for either the Alien or Predator films (or any films really) I advise you to avoid this drivel.
