Alien. === A true classic and still as fresh today as when it was made in 1979.
We follow the crew of the Nosromo, a deep space mining vessel as it has its return journey interupted by a unknown signal from an unexplored world. They investigate the signal and one of the crew ends up with his face covered by an alien creature. this later falls off but the damage has all ready been done. Shortly afterwards an alien bursts from John Hurts stomache and then the alien slug grows into an enormous 9ft killing machine. What happens from this point on I will not divulge here, surely you've seen it? The film began a huge 'alien' type spin offs and clone type films. But none ever to match the original. The only negative from a personal point of view was it was all too dark. The special effects are nothing special but the performances from all of the crew where exceptional. The directors cut, which this film isn't, is far far superior.
