Four fantastic films in one collection, brilliant!
Alien, it's such an original film, with a good storyline, and the ability to make you jump every time you watch it. It starts out with seven characters who encounter a mysterious alien on their space ship. The events that follow are both interesting and unexpected. It certainly deserves the Oscar it won for special effects which, especially for the time it was made, are impressive. I think the first film is best because the creature was mostly hidden until the end, which made it more fearful. To me, this is one of those films that you just have to watch when it's on TV even though you have the DVD.
Aliens is not quite as good as the original Alien film, but is still exciting and has some entertaining characters. It features Ripley, from the first Alien film, who has been found after years of drifting in space by the company who owned the ship she fled from. However, the company does not believe her story, until they lose contact with people who have settled near the Alien colony. Again, the special effects are excellent.
Alien3 is my least favourite of the quadrilogy as it is sometimes less exciting , but still has its good points. Ripley ends up on a planet inhabited by former maximum security inmates, with an Alien that followed her. However, there is an unexpected twist to be discovered which changes everything.
Alien: Resurrection has quite a strange plot, but it somehow works really well. The characters are interesting and unique, and definitely entertaining. A group of scientists resurrect Ripley and attempt to breed a new kind of Alien which has disastrous outcomes for the people on board the ship. Winona Ryder played the part of Call particularly well, and Sigourney Weaver continues to develop her character, Ripley.
There's a bonus disc for each film which includes things about the pre-production, production and post-production of the films. Also, there's a ninth disc which has a few more extras about all the films such as trailers. Each film disc allows the option of watching the original version or the director's cut, which enables the viewer to see extra scenes fitted into the film.
The information booklet is also quite useful as it provides information about each films, like a list of characters and the chapter list.
I really like the presentation case, it really suits the films as it has a futuristic look.
I would definitely recommend this to any fans of the Alien films, it's a great set and good value for money.
