A really cute Disney classic based on the book by Lewis Carroll!
Advantages - much more child-friendly than the book! If you aren't aware of the plot, it centres around a young girl called Alice who sees a white rabbit escaping down a rabbit hole. She jumps in after it and enters a crazy unknown world full of weird and wonderful characters. Much confusion follows, leading to a dramatic build-up and happy ending :) Visually stimulating and much easier to grasp when the images are in front of you rather than trying to imagine them from the book. The film is loyal to the book and includes scenes with the rabbit-hole chase, Tweedledum and Tweedledee and the Queen of Hearts. It's not too long a film, around an hour and a half. Special features of the DVD are obviously limited, with the film being so old, but an effort has been made. There are virtual games and clips about the history and making of the film.
Disadvantages - with the film being quite short, I thought they could have inycluded more scenes from the original book as quite a lot has been missed out, although this doesnt affect the film as a whole. I also thought the film dragged a little during the scene where Alice is in the woods. Although visually stimulating, i prefer the book version of this story.
Overall though, a great Disney classic and very imaginative!
