DVD Description
In the early 1970s Alice Cooper carved out his own place in rock-and-roll history by combining elements of glam rock and the aesthetics of horror. This highly theatrical and original performer is a pioneer in the realms of rock-as-theater and in breaking the macho stereotypes of the genre. This special edition DVD EP contains 3 tracks recorded in the early 1970s for German television, during what some would call his career peak: "Under My Wheels," "I'm Eighteen," and "Public Animal
Advantages: comprehensive Disadvantages: stupid board game simulation
...This dvd is the most comprehensive I have seen about Alice. It charts the rise and fall and subsequent re-rise of the shock meister. It includes live footage, interviews with Alice, the other members of the original group and his manager Shep Gordon among others. Some of the footage is unique, such as the rehearsals for his world tour of Brutal Planet, others jog the memory such as the original video of 'Elected' which shows a great sense of fun and OTT humour (roller skating chimp with cigar pushing a wheelbarrow full of cash).
The down side of this package is the second dvd which has a simulation of a snakes and ladders board game which you must complete before you can see the full footage of the disc. This is VERY annoying. You have been warned.
Otherwise, this is a must see for anyone with more than a passing intererest...

Advantages: good entertainment Disadvantages: none
...This dvd was recorded in 1986 in Birmingham during Coopers' triumphant return to the charts with the 'Trash' album and the single 'Poison'. Many in the crowd were obviously too young to remember the Coops first assault on the charts in 1972 with 'Schools Out' but had a good time anyway. The concert starts with Alice emerging from an exploding dustbin into the opening track 'Trash'. Tracks, old and new, follow in quick succession, including some rarities such as 'Desperado' from the 'Killer' album. Coop changes mid way through into the mascara and Welcome To My Nightmare era, including the obligitary beheading via guillotine.
The concert lacks the pure theatre and entertainment of the early shows such as Billion Dollar Babies and 'Nightmare', but is good nevertheless, and has the bonus of having a cracking band and Alice remembering...

Advantages: series 5,6 Disadvantages: series 7,8 same old jokes, characters get more annoying
...Series 5-8 of the smash hit comedy series created and written by Rob Grant and Doug Naylor.
Three million years into deep space, lister continues to eat curry. If you haven't seen series 1-4 it's recommended you see this first (check out my review 'classic Red Dwarf series 1-4') although I personally feel it loses it's way after series 6 it's worth buying just for series 5,6. I feel series 7,8 just plays on the same old things, rimmer is persecuted non stop and Kryten becomes extremely neurotic.
The Episodes were originally released in DVD in a new digitally enhanced format with loads of CGI and bits missing. Thanks to an Internet petition this classic series has finally hit the shelves, if you're expecting Extras you'll be disappointed and should probably buy the individual series. If you are looking for Red Dwarf in all it...
