Well as a huge fan of Alias, and due to the fact I had reviewed almost all the series so far, it would only be fair to write a review on this one too! So I'll begin with a brief, in fact VERY brief recap of Series 1 and 2...

Sydney Bristow, played by the beautiful Jennifer Garner is a spy who believed she was wroking for the US Government in SD-6 but it turned out the company was an enemy of the USA. She decided to become a double agent at the CIA under her handler Michael Vaughn. Her father Jack also works at SD-6 and the CIA. Her mother who Sydney thought died when she was 6 years old is actually alive, and a notorious Russian spy named Irina Derevko. She turned herself in to the CIA but then betrayed Sydney again at the end of Season 2. Sydney and the CIA closed down SD-6 but Arvin Sloane, her boss at SD-6 went on the run. Vaughn and Sydney began a relationship but then came the shocker at the end of season 2....

*Season 3*
Sydney ends up in a CIA Safehouse in Hong Kong, and in walks Vaughn. He tells her there was a fire at her house and she been missing and presumed dead for 2 years. Sydney said it can't be true because she feels like she just woke up. She notices a ring on hus finger and he explains he is married. Thinking they are tricking her Sydney makes a run for it, but is stopped by Vaughn, and transferred back to the US.

She comes back to find everything in her life has changed. Dixon, her former partner at SD-6 is now Director of their branch of the CIA. Vaughn has left the CIA bbut Weiss and Marshall remain there. The biggest shock is that her father is in solitary prison, after being found to be conspiring with his ex-wife and Sydneys mother Irina after Sydney's death as he was certain she was still alive.

Sydney meets Lauren, Vaughn's wife when it turns out she will be working for the CIA, and it's fair to say the 2 don't get along smoothly! Lauren is a young British girl working for the American government but the REAL Lauren shows herself soon enough...watch and see!

The series spends a lot of time concentrating on Lauren, Sydney and Vaughn's relationship and how the 3 work together. Jack and Sydney's relationship changes yet again after Sydney's reappearance, but this time for the better. It is nice to see them finally evolve to a father-daughter relationship.

Another shock for Syd is that her ex-boss and enemy for life Arvin Sloane has been pardoned by the US Government and now works for Omnifam, a charity working abroad. Sydney still distrusts Sloane, and refuses to work alongside him.

The best storyline of the season comes when Sydney finds out something shocking about herfamily. I personally never would have guessed it, and I am not about to spoil a major plotline here, but it does involve the complete change for Syndey, Jack and Arvin Sloane. The cliffhanger at then end is not as shocking as those in 1 and 2, but nonetheless it does get you thinking about what is going on!

Some people have criticised Season 3 for not being as good as previous seasons but it is still enjoyable for any Alias fan. Jen Grner's acting and stunts are as always superb, as is that of the rest of the cast. Notably absent though are the scenes of Sydney's homelife, actually I did miss these scenes as it gave us a look into other areas of Sydney's life. This series is definitely much more work-focused.

The series comprises 22 episodes, in a 6 disc boxset, retailing for around 30 pounds. You do get some extras including deleted scenes, a blooper reel, production featurette, behind the scenes feature, and audio commentaries. Worth the money, and a great season overall.
