Part chat show (Paul Daniels makes a memorably awful appearance; Gail Porter turns up and Ali dims the house lights and gets all soppy), and part saucy variety show (Ali's duet with Jarvis Cocker is fun, but no-where near as good as his improvised rap with Mohammed Al Fayed "from Arrods"), the material here is richer and more varied than his11 O'Clockappearances, which more or less depended on his interviewees not knowing he was stitching them up. At various points, Ali reports from the States--the Staines rapper's spiritual home, you suspect--and the bemused reactions of the unsuspecting people he meets there makes for some of the video's funniest moments ("Has anyone ever been killed by a gun?" he asks someone from the National Rifle Association).Ali G--Aiiialso features Cohen's newest character Borat, a reporter from Kazakhstani television who is producing a guide to Britain for his viewers back home. Amazingly, Cohen ran into trouble with the Kazakhstani embassy in Britain over his portrait of the bumbling reporter with only the faintest grasp of English, but in fact it's the Brits he interviews who patronise Borat who come off a lot worse. (See, for example, the embarrassed silence which greets Borat's attempt at introductory small talk at a society dinner party: "My wife, she is dead"!) Like the rest of the show, there is a smart satiric edge to the comedy but it's also very, very funny. Ali introduces the compilation, keepin' it real with a promise that profits from the sale of the video will be channelled back into the Staines ghetto. --Edward Lawrenson

The dvd itself is presented in 1.77:1 anamorphic widescrren. The picture quality is spot on with no problems whatsoever. There's not really much more I can say about it.
As for the sound well this is a TV show so it's just a stereo mix with no frills. This isn't the type of material that call's for any surround sound so you can't really say anything about it.
As for extras well there is added footage not shown on TV but sadly it's not listed as to what it is so I can't really highlight anything that stood out as new although there is one sketch that is very risque and I can't recall it being broadcast.
There is also the Ali G christmas message that was an alternative to the Queens speech on christmas day. It's very funny stuff as Ali interviews a priest about the meaning of christmas.
The menu is animated and the 'G' in the title glows. All I can say is that it glows for a reason. Press the 'up' key on your remote and you'll get a very funny surprise.
This is funny stuff indeed, I just wish there was more from the TV show on the dvd.
Advantages: Very amusing. Jabs fun at a lot of serious issues Disadvantages: Not long enough!!!
...one person who doesn't like Ali G, well, I do know 1 person but he is too old to catch it. Ali G is pure genius. I laugh myself stupid evertime I watch the vid and I have watched it too many times now to count. As most of you know Ali G is played by Sacha Baron Cohen who dresses up as a rudeboy from his hometown of Staines in the UK. He then goes out and acts like a wannabe gansta rapper and interviews unsuspecting people on a whole range of topics. ... ...actually find Borat funnier than Ali G I must admit. Ali G first appeared on The 11 o'clock Show, but because of his popularity, he soon outgrew the show and got his own. From there the sky is the limit. This is his 2nd vid. The 1st contained mainly clips from The 11 o'clock Show, this one is all stuff off his show (and some new stuff). I have read reviews on Ali G on other sites from people all around the world and it seems his humour is spreading. ...

Advantages: DVD also features his Christmas message to the world Disadvantages: Not everybody's cup of tea
...round with her copy of Ali G...Aiii DVD. Ali G is not everybody's cup of tea. His humour is day to day life and sometimes so silly that I cannot help but laugh. I would watch the '11 O'clock Show' just to watch him. He became so popular that he was given his own show on Channel 4. Ali G (Sacha Baron Cohen), is dressed to look like a 'rap gangster', talks Jamaican and openly talks about smoking the weed (marijuana). This DVD features highlights from ... ...even the police! Ali G fans will love this collection and the DVD features 'Ali G's Christmas Message to the Nation' as well as his character Borat, the interviewer from Kazakhstan, learning the English way of life. I think this collection is brilliant and much better than his first, 'Innit'. (I would just like to add that Mr Al Fayed is a great sport). ...

Advantages: hilarious, wacky comedy Disadvantages: not on long enough
Ali G (Sacha Baren Cohen)has got to be the funniest man on T.V today, he was introduced by The 11 o clock show, and with his wacky way of interviewing celbrities he was soon hosting his own show on Channel 4.
His show was such a big success he has brought out two videos capturing the funniest moments from his show, and Ali G Aiii is the funniest of the two.
Ali G, a gangster rapper from The Staines Massive, takes it upon himself to interview unsuspecting ... ...30 mins of unseen footage, Ali G, Aiii will have you in stiches from start to finish.

Advantages: hilarious, Borat Disadvantages: Too long, may have seen it all before
Ali G has become one of the phenomenons of the early millenium. His up front interviews and his embarrasing of the some of the upper class personel are quality viewing in their own right.
Ali G's new video is called Ali G, Aiiiii and shows the best bits of his first show on Channel 4. Ali is his usual self making jokes and holding discussions about things like would a vegetarian eat a McDonalds if he was paid a million squid. You can use your imagination ... ...video a person refers to Ali G as black which, if you look carefully, raises a sarcastic smile from Ali.
A new addition to Ali G's repetoire was Kazakstan's fact finder of England and it's culture, Borat. This gives something extra to the video as you don't have to watch Ali for the whole video. Some of the things Borat does are hilarious. For example, he goes to a Cruelty Against Animals demo with a bear hunting badge on his shirt, and procedes ...

Advantages: Average popcorner. Disadvantages: Boring as sin.
The best Boxing film ever is Raging Bull with Rocky in Second but not really coming close. Raging Bull was superb for its gritty, bloody realism and Rocky was highly acclaimed for its stylised classy Boxing. Michael Mann the director of Ali then, decided to cleverly copy neither style and invent his own quite frankly crummy depiction of Boxing. With Raging Bull you felt every punch and were right next De Niro as he won or lost, but with Ali you get neither that feeling of being there nor the emotionally charged atmosphere of Rocky. It seems Michael Mann had everything laid, all he had to do was pick a style and copy it, that coupled with the wonderful story of Muhammed Ali he should have had an easy winner.
Unfortunately they picked the wrong director for this film, which is sad because it was hyped up to be the next genre defying ...
Advantages: Good quality, enjoyable and interesting, good fights and good acting Disadvantages: Not a pure boxing film, or a pure life story. Too long and fails to last in the middle.
I am too young to remember Mohammed Ali in his prime. All I see is a weak and frail man savaged by his illness. However his catchphrases are famous, taunting opposition, changing from his slave name to Nation of Islam and refusing to fight in Vietnam. Apparently he could also box a bit.
Ali does exactly what it says on the tin. It is a biography of one of the greatest sportsmen and characters in sport ever. It follows the real life of Mohammed Ali through a decade from 1964 to 74 and includes all the famous events in his life, bouts with Sonny Liston and George Foreman. What a job it must have been to do make a film about such a person. The film begins with Cassius Clay as the young and big-mouthed challenger who surprisingly beats Sonny Liston to win the heavyweight championship of the world and especially the peoples champion ...
Advantages: Gives insight into the life of ALI Disadvantages: None, really
WILL SMITH is an excellent actor. I can see why he was nominated for an academy award as a lead actor. I had a hard time thinking he was not ALI. He had the walk, the talk and the mannerisms
I remember very little about ALI except that he was a great boxer. All my memories of him are recent. When I think of ALI, I think of the man whose body is riddled with a crippling disease. A man who has trouble walking. Not the determined, arrogant, but seemingly gentle man portrayed in this movie. I vaguely remember him not going in to the Army, and thought him just another draft-dodger. I did not understand his disgust at killing when he seemed so violent in the ring.
The movie takes you through ALI’s early life. His first fight in the ring as Cassius Clay, his conversion to the Nation of Islam. His friendship with Malcolm ...
