Advantages: Stylish, Sophisticated, Sexy Jude Law, Sex & City esque Disadvantages: Drags on a bit too long?
...around the main character umm Alfie who is played by Jude Law. Originally released in 2004, I am as usual a late arriver to getting around to viewing it. I watched the VHS version, which I know is very 20th century darling, but it was on offer in Poundland for a um pound, so I snapped it up like a mad woman succumbing to the lustful vision of Jude gazing at me in adoration on the cover. I just know he was thinking about me. I haven't watched the ... ...Who Is Alfie?
--------------------
Alfie is everyone woman's seemingly perfect guy. Smartly dressed, well spoken, charming, witty and sexy as can be. He knows the art of seducing women to a tea, he knows how their minds work, when they begin to start wanting more from a relationship and how to keep them dangling like the proverbial carrot. In his late 20's, Alfie is the ultimate player, he womanises several women at a time and doesn't give a second ...

Advantages: Great Soundtrack, slick direction Disadvantages: Not enough depth to the characters
...romantic film. Alfie is an eternal womanizer who is looking for something else, but can't quite put his finger on it. Will he find it before it is too late? Throughout the film he addresses the camera directly, and I found this a tad annoying, especially as it sometimes interrupted the (albeit limited) conversational dialogue. His shallow shagging around New York, at times, seems as empty and pointless to the viewer as it does to Alfie, although ... ...has been up to. Alfie then lurches from a one night stand with Marlon's girlfriend Lonette (Nia Long) to a relationship with manic depressive Nikki (Sienna Miller) and an affair with charismatic older woman Liz (Susan Sarandon), on some sort of path of self-destruction as he refuses to acknowledge what is wrong with his life. Should he find what he wants, and should it work out for him, and other such details I will leave for you to discover should ...

Advantages: Jude Law is great in this. Disadvantages: remake
...the Michael Caine classic of Alfie from 1966 he is a womaniser who is left to question his life.
Its set in New York City and Alfie is a limo driver, where he chats up many women of New York. Eventually he has to look at the damage he has caused and has to take a look at his life as he realises that a lot is missing.
The women Alfie meet are Marisa Tomei as a single mom, Sienna Miller as a party girl and Susan Sarandon as a rich older woman whom ... ...makes the film slightly as Alfie not only has to try to seduce many women he also has to try to make a connection with the audience which i think Jude Law does very well.
This is not one of the greatest film but i enjoyed the film and would recommend that you see it, i have never seen the original by Michael Caine, so i could not comment on the fact that it's a remake. But it's worth a watch especially if you a Jude Law fan. ...

Anyway, rant over.... ALFIE ! starring nanny botherer, Jude Law and his 'hard done to' lady friend, Sienna Miller.
The original film is an adaptation of Bill Naughton's stage play starring Michael Caine. Jude Law has replaced Caine as the loveable rogue, Alfie and the location has moved from London to upwardly mobile New York. As the film opens we are introduced to Alfie, who is a bit of a cad with a load of 'birds' on the go including a ... ...and there's Liz, in whom Alfie meets his match.
The first part of the film has Alfie chasing every pretty girl he sees whilst his plans to start a limo business with his mate Marlon, fall by the wayside against his skirt chasing. We soon start to see the cracks appear in his empty lifestyle and things start to fall apart for Alfie who now has to face the prospect of being on his tod.
The style of the film has more than a nod to the original, with ...

Advantages: Women Love him Disadvantages: Women love him
Alfie is the kind of bloke every man fantasizes about being, where as Alfie is the kind of bloke every women fantasizes about.
I think "flavour of the month" Jude Law really takes on the role of Alfie, he's got the cocky confidence on the outside and yet you always know that on the inside he knows he's missing something. This film is funny, and yet still insightful as to how many men think. We all think it's great to be lusted after, and to play ...

DVD Description
Jude Law stars in this trenchant dramatic-comedy, a remake of the 1966 British counterculture classic that launched the career of Michael Caine. This version is set in New York City and is pumped up with giddy, cleverly experimental editing. The story has Alfie (Law), a Don Juan-esque limo driver, speaking directly to the camera as he seduces the lovely ladies of the city. Eventually he's forced to take stock of the damage he's caused, and acknowledge the emptiness at the core of his chosen lifestyle. Playing the role of Alfie requires a fine balancing act from Law--he must be so charming that he seduces both the audience and himself, while also conveying the self-delusion and sadness at the character's core--and Law is up for the challenge, expertly conveying glimpses of the unfathomed depth beneath his polished shallowness. Equally good are his array of conquests, including Marisa Tomei as a single mom, Sienna Miller as a mood-swinging party girl, and Susan Sarandon as a rich older woman. A soundtrack by Mick Jagger and David Stewart (Eurythmics) adds liberal dollops of self-aware rock-and-roll melancholy. Dick Latessa is great as an old man who offers Alfie some sage advice, and Omar Epps plays the screwed-over limo driving buddy.
