Advantages: Everything Disadvantages: Nothing, unless you don't like really good unplugged music
MTV is a television music channel which started broadcasting in late 1989/early 1990. As the first of its kind, it regularly featured an 'Unplugged' session, where artists would come and perform a live acoustic set. Before long, the MTV The Very Best Of Unplugged album was released, an its success demanded a second album to be released.
This album is the second offering from the MTVUnplugged Set. Many artists have released music that they have performed on the MTV set, but this is a compilation of some of the greatest moments in the channel's live acoustic history. There are 16 tracks on the album, including 10 which were not previously released.
These are the tracks:
1. Sting - Every Breath You Take
2. Chris Isaak - Wicked Game
3. The Cranberries - Zombie
4. REM - Imitation Of Life
5. Eric Clapton - Layla
6. Crowded House ...
Advantages: Amazing songs, real music, feels like you were at the recording, subtitles in different languages Disadvantages: People who can't understand Spanish may find it difficult to understand what Ricky says
Ricky Martin is THE legend of Latin music and in my opinion always will be! His MTVUnpluggedDVD is by far the most entertaining and cultural music DVD ever made. I really enjoy watching it! It has a 'feel good' quality about it, and is also quite educational in learning about a different culture and the Spanish/Latin American language, which I think is truly beautiful. For some reason, I felt proud watching it... it really makes you reflect on your life though, because the songs are quite emotional (not to the point of crying though. Obviously I don't cry over a song! haha). Ricky's vocals are flawless and he has his own destinctive sound. There's no gimics or editing just the live sound of Ricky's voice and very talented instrument players who have obviously rehearsed and rehearsed until they reached perfection. This live recording ...
Advantages: Brilliant performance Disadvantages: 1 weak link
After Alicia Keys recent album success, I have become somewhat of a fan and started to delve into her back catalogue. One of the albums in there that I had really enjoyed is this MTVUnplugged session from 2005. Recorded on her home turf a Brooklyn Academy of Music, this is a showcase for a true vocal talent and talented pianist.
The applause for her opening "Intro Alicia's Prayer" soon dies down and you can almost hear a pin drop until her smooth soul voice takes over. She barely sings 5 lines and the audience are clearly die hard fans as they appreciation of her is plain to hear.
Personally, I like Alicia Keys when she has a bit of attitude in her voice, so I welcomed the early inclusion in the set of "Karma" & "Heatburn", which are brilliant examples of that attitude, and performances like this put other wannabee R&B singers ...
