Comedy - Original Language: English - Classification: 12 years and over - Starring: Tessa Peake-Jones, Buster Merryfield, David Jason, Nicholas Lyndhurst
Advantages: Stays funny after several views. Good value for money. Disadvantages: Too few episodes.
AlanPartridge is perhaps one of the most recognisable Britishcomedy characters to have ever graced our TV screens. In this series, Partridge (played by the comedian and impressionist Steve Coogan) is found taking up residence in the Lynton Travel Tavern (convenient as it is 'equidistant between London and Norwich' in the words of Mr Partridge himself). This is after his wife has kicked him out of his home shortly after having his chat show Knowing Me Knowing You With AlanPartridge axed due to plummeting viewing figures. The 6 hilarious episodes follow the character's everyday goings on. He has also found himself a job at Radio Norwich presenting an early breakfast morning show.
What makes this series so utterly funny is that no matter who he meets (whether it be his tiring PA Lynn, or even the bloke who works at the nearby BP ...
Advantages: SILLY ,STUPID and VERY FUNNY 'STEVE COOGAN' Disadvantages: They only made 2 series
I'M ALANPARTRIDGE series 2 Written By PETER BAYNHAM,STEVE COOGAN and ARMANDO LANNUCCI
Stars STEVE COOGAN as ALANPARTRIDGE.
SERIES 2 Has 6 episodes
AlanPartridge has failed at TV presenting and so he has moved onto radio his current position is ''the third best slot'' on a Norwich Radio Station.
Lets Just say ,Alan has his own style and way of saying and doing things. He doesn't think much before he says or does something either to offend someone or embarrass himself ,he is full of catch phrases and I mean you will no doubt find yourself using some of them in every day use after watching the series.
'Cash Back'
'back of the net'
'gotta laugh when you fall of a sofa'
'don't laugh.. you've broken your neck'
'ooo ya gonna have a good time'
Better not list them all ,but that is a small few
Alan really does have a bad case ...
Advantages: Brilliant British comedy writing Disadvantages: Six episodes just was not enough
Steve Coogan has produced some great comedy characters over the last few years. I am a huge fan of many of them (including the lovely Pualine Calf) but few of them have the popularity that AlanPartridge has, which continues to be a huge success with high ratings for re runs on digital channels.
The character of AlanPartridge is almost like an amalgamation of evrything bad about television and the status it provides, with a hint of desperation. Imagine a mad scientist in his (or her) lab creating a monster to dominate our tv screens with taudry television...poor dress sense, no real understanding of topics and current events beyond your own very limited understanding and a total disregard for your guests and their stories...and there you have it...AlanPartridge.
Alan starte doff on Radio for with the brilliantly hilarious 'Knowing ...
