Alan Partridge is perhaps one of the most recognisable British comedy characters to have ever graced our TV screens. In this series, Partridge (played by the comedian and impressionist Steve Coogan) is found taking up residence in the Lynton Travel Tavern (convenient as it is 'equidistant between London and Norwich' in the words of Mr Partridge himself). This is after his wife has kicked him out of his home shortly after having his chat show Knowing Me Knowing You With Alan Partridge axed due to plummeting viewing figures. The 6 hilarious episodes follow the character's everyday goings on. He has also found himself a job at Radio Norwich presenting an early breakfast morning show.
What makes this series so utterly funny is that no matter who he meets (whether it be his tiring PA Lynn, or even the bloke who works at the nearby BP garage), he somehow manages to alienate them in his own inimitable way. For anybody who has seen Partridge before, then this is certainly a must, as in my opinion it is probably the best series of the Alan Partridge saga. Besides the 6 half-hour episodes included, the DVD also has a second disc dedicated to special features and extras, including a huge array of out-takes.
On top of all this, the DVD is affordable to even the most discerning of budgets. At less than a tenner, for what it's worth, it could even be described without haste as a bargain. Overall, I would strongly recommend this as a comedy DVD that will stand out from the rest on the shelf of light entertainment.
In the words of Partridge himself - 'ruddy bloody good'.
