This DVD is great - All the best that Steve Coogan has to offer and more besides!
The scene is set as soon as you play the DVD the menu screen complete with alan prancing around to the theme tune of Black Beauty is a classic in itself - that is worth 5 minutes viewing alone!
The story is set with Alan Gordon Partridge now living in the Linton Travel tavern - a rather bland motel which has the convenience of being equidistant between Norwich and London. Alan's wife has left him which is why he is there are he is working for Radio Norwich on the graveyard shift!
The indroduction of his tireless PA Lynn Benfield is a stroke of genius as it shows even more how cruel Alan can be and funny at the same time!
The series starts with esisode one - A Room with An Alan - one of the highlights of this episode comes right at the beginning where we dicover that Alans car has been vandalised as the words "Cock, Piss, Partridge" had been spray painted onto the side of his car. This episode also introduces the Travel tavern and its staff and the secret contents of the drawer in Alan's room - as well as Alan's fascination with the Commisioning Editor of Light Entertainment for the BBC Tony Hayers - the man who could give him a second series "smell my cheese".
The second episode Alan Attraction - starts with Valentines day and the sound of a cockeral being kissed! This episode revolves around the fact that with no second series Alan with have to either downsize his car or sack his staff at Peartree Productions - hmmm?? The episode results in Alan enjoying a romantic date with one of the staff and a great moment with some chocolate mousse!
Episode Three Watership Alan revolves around Alan being in a dispute with the local farmers and his participation in a Water breaks video - having branded the farmers as simpletons and making matter worse by bringing on one of their representatives onto the show and insulting him as well - is it any wonder that at the end of the episode we find him under a dead cow!
Episode Four - basic Alan sees him dress up as a zombie to frighten the staff and dismantle his corby trouser press - Alan is bored! - The best bit is at the end of the episode when Alan and a member of staff get into trouble with the polce after trying to steal some traffic cones!
Episode Five - To Kill a Mocking Alan - is arguably the best in the series - Alan prepares for a TV show which is not on TV but in the Tavern! This is supposed to be with Sue Cook but she pulls out leaving Alan trying to impress two Irish TV makers who have come to discuss a possible deal with him. The gem of the episode is Alans superfan ged - the whole story line is fantastic and the sight of Alan running away at the end with the cry of "mentalist" will stay with me for some time!!
the last episode - Towering Alan - sees Alan perform duties as the judge at the Swaffam Country Show - it is also the episode where Tony Hayers dies - leaving a replacement - Chris Feather - who actually likes Alan's work! A five year contract with the BBC is finally signed but not without another death and a bit of help from Alan! The series ends with Alan throwing a leaving party for the guests- who want to see what he has in his drawer!
The DVD is absolutely fantastic and can be watched time and time again - there are also some really good extra features on the DVD cut and extended scenes as well as Photos are more extras!
This is definitely one to buy and display proudly in your collection!!
Advantages: Steve Coogan is superb, writing is great Disadvantages: No...I can't really think of any
Finally, I'm Alan Partridge series 1 has gone on to DVD, and there are very few better DVD's you can buy, let me assure you. -------------------------------------------------------------------
Characters: Anyone who has seen Knowing Me, Knowing You (Alan's first forray into mainstream TV) will be aware of the character of Alan himself. He's over opinionated, mean to those around him and always desperate to fit in, and this makes for a brilliant ... ...-------------------------------------------------------------------
Writing: The writing on I'm Alan Partridge is superb, and in my opinion it is by far one of the most cleverly written and acted out sitcoms around. The main writer is Armando Iannuci, but the other writers include Steve Coogan himself and Peter Baynham, who also appears in one episode. -------------------------------------------------------------------
Episodes: A Room With an ...

i am a man of great comedy, i do not laugh at just anything. steve coogan is one of my favourite comedians of all time. The simple typically british humor envoked here is absolutely halarious and ridiculus. Cringe style humor that really does want to make you cringe or even cry at alan partridge due to what he says and does.
My favourite scene really does have to be were alans friend tries to make toast in a microwave and then alan says, and i quote ...

Advantages: Very very funny. Can be watched over and over again. Disadvantages: Don't think there are any.
...hilarious outtakes, an improvised deleted scene and cast biographys.
I would recommend this DVD to anybody. If you are already an AlanPartridge fan then you will enjoy this for the extras alone. If you haven?t seen AlanPartridge then I strongly suggest that you give this DVD a go. Other AlanPartridge DVDs are ?Knowing Me, Knowing You? (his talk show) and ?I?mAlanPartridge ? Series 2" but I think I?mAlanPartridge series 1 is the best. It?s instantly funny and it is something you can and will watch over and over again. You?ll probably even end up with Alan phrases entering your every day vocabulary....

Advantages: Never gets old! You can watch it again and again! Disadvantages: That no other comedy matches up to it!
...The second and unfortunately the last series of "I'mAlanPartridge" is a DVD that you cannot fail to worship and laugh out loud to. I especially liked the episode "The Colour of Alan" where he accidently pierces his foot on a spike (or a spiiiiiikkkkkeeee as Alan would put it) and then proceeds to do a presentation on fire-places with intervals of being sick on his foot. Yes, sounds interesting indeed.
The series is full of annedotes that will stay in your memory forever and annoy your friends till the grave. The characters are colourful and hillarious and aid in the pure genius of the comedy. The scenarios are inventful and create many cringe-worthy and memorable moments.
Special features are plentiful and are as good as the actual series. It is worth buying the DVD just to check out the main menu, i have never seen anything...

Advantages: SILLY ,STUPID and VERY FUNNY 'STEVE COOGAN' Disadvantages: They only made 2 series
...I'MALANPARTRIDGE series 2 Written By PETER BAYNHAM,STEVE COOGAN and ARMANDO LANNUCCI
Stars STEVE COOGAN as ALANPARTRIDGE.
SERIES 2 Has 6 episodes
AlanPartridge has failed at TV presenting and so he has moved onto radio his current position is ''the third best slot'' on a Norwich Radio Station.
Lets Just say ,Alan has his own style and way of saying and doing things. He doesn't think much before he says or does something either to offend someone or embarrass himself ,he is full of catch phrases and I mean you will no doubt find yourself using some of them in every day use after watching the series.
'Cash Back'
'back of the net'
'gotta laugh when you fall of a sofa'
'don't laugh.. you've broken your neck'
'ooo ya gonna have a good time'
Better not list them all ,but that is a small few
Alan really does have a bad case...
