I cant remember the first time I saw Alan Carr. I'd seen him around on different programmes, but had never took too much notice until I started to watch 'THE FRIDAY NIGHT PROJECT'. To be honest,up until then, when anyone mentioned Alan Carr I would immediately think of the guy thats famous for his 'Stop Smoking' tapes and books. (This guy is real, just not as funny!)
For anyone who is unaware of the comedian Alan Carr,he is one half of the presenters on the Friday Night Project, the other being Justin Lee Collins, and is also famous for his glasses, buck teeth and extremely camp attitude. He is openly gay,but his stand up show does not centre around this, much to some peoples surprise,as his humour on the Friday Night Project is often particularly adult themed.
So when I saw that he had a dvd out I had to buy it just because I find him so hilarious.
I bought the dvd for 9.95p in HMV,however annoyingly later that day I saw it in Tesco for only 8.00p.
In my opinion,I think the money I paid was a little too highly priced, however I was willing to pay it as I know how funny he is.
The dvd states that the running time is 72 minutes,I know it sounds silly, but im sure that the dvd I watched lasted 2 hours as Im certain that I watched it from 7 till 9.
Filmed at the HAMMERSMITH APOLLO,to a sell-out crowd in May 2007,critics raved about it,mentioning Alan as a great talent. They certainly were right,as the whole act left me laughing and laughing.
Alan deals with many topics, summing each one up hilariously and backing it up with his camp style and hilarious acting out of situations.
One of my favourite bits has to be when he starts ranting and raving about Supermarket 'Scan and Pack' and how anyone can get away with anything. He 'recalls' the time he saw a woman putting through a H.D TV as Button Mushrooms, and then with his hilarious way of acting, camply pretends to push a trolley along, saying something like 'Oooh, only one pound fifty for a t.v,what a bargain!'
The jokes continue, the whole time, never pausing awkwardly as some comedians do.
He also interacts with the audience, sometimes taking the mick out of them, but in an acceptable way. All this is backed up by his amazing stage presence and camp attitude to situations. His attitude and ways are almost similar to Kenneth Williams,in the way in which he over dramatisises the situation in a camp way,but still doesnt do it to over kill, making him a joy to watch.
The one thing I would say is that if you have ever seen Alan do stand up before, then its pretty much the same jokes repeated. Its not that Alan is a one trick Pony as he certainly has the talent of spontaneity, however revently I saw a programme with Jimmy Carr and Alan performed alot of the jokes that are on this dvd. However they are still hilarious jokes that can be watched again and again, and Alan is so sweet,in the sense that i'd just like to grab him, give him a big hug and tell him what a sweety he is. (or is that just me?!)
The dvd itself doesnt really contain extras, apart from Alans Tour Diary, which was a little dissapointing especially due to the price, however knowing that it can be bought cheaper than 9.95p does make it a dvd i'd recommend.
Alan may not be to everyone humour,he's somewhere in the middle of Peter kay and Russell Brand. Meaning that hes not as family watchable as Kay,but certainly not as adult themed as the gorgeus Russell.
All in all i'd recommend this dvd if you've found Alan funny in the past, and also if you want to watch a new comedian, however if you dont like adult jokes then i'd give this one a miss.
Advantages: Alan at his best Disadvantages: Some wont like his camp nature
Alan Carr's back with his distinctive brand of sarcastic & camp humour in this DVD of the last stop of his 2007 tour in the world famous Hammersmith Apollo.
First off if you have seen Alan Carr in one of his TV shows or course his stand up shows then where have you been? Alan Carr seems to be everywhere these days, on the Friday Night Project which has now changed to the Sunday Night Project in which him & good friend Justin Lee Collins are the ... ...night entertainment show. Alan also has his own show that he presents called 'Alan Carr's Celebrity Ding Dong' in which two teams of celebrities go head to head against each other to find out who's better i.e. Coronation Street vs. Eastenders. The show hasn't really taken off as well as the Friday Night Project has but it's still great entertainment with Alan injecting his usual hilarious jokes & anecdotes. However I'm actually here to talk about ...

Advantages: pure camp from start to finish Disadvantages: little overpriced
...who are thinking who is alan carr he is the other half (professionally, that is!) to mr Justin lee collins and is famed for the great extraordinary friday night project.
Tooth Fairy Live is an insight to the great mr Carr that i believe has made him a funny house hold name with his quick witty, funny putdowns and the fast pace of his remarks that keep the audience laughing again and again. Overall the dvd is good and although it is a little predictable ... ...I think that fans of alan would buy this dvd because it shows alan how he is... the same that you would see on friday night project, and as for virgins to mr carr i think that this dvd would enable you to see what he is like as a performer and is well worth a look......
My opinion............ Very Good............ Worth Taking A Peek..... ...

Id actually heard off Alan Carr, due to him being off Friday night project and being a fan of that I knew how funny he was. I also knew him off other comedy shows such as 8 out of 10 cats which he appeared on quite a few times and some other comedy based chat shows in which he was funny.
When I heard this DVD was coming out I was thinking about buying it, however I was quite undecided so I thought id just wait till after Christmas and then get it.
... ...sense.
You can tell Alan Carr used to be a stand up before he got into television and Id defiantly like to see him doing more stand-up comedy in the future.
The show its self is quite long and you do feel you get your moneys worth, and is actually I think the best stand up comedy DVDs iv seen, and iv watched Peter Kay and Ricky Gervais and they just don’t compare to Alan Carr, so if you can, this is defiantly worth the watch.
There are little ...

Advantages: Very funny, well performed stand up act. Disadvantages: DVD is lacking in extras.
...had to buy it.
Alan Carr is an openly gay man (actually, it;s quite difficult for him to hide it!) but his stand up doesn't revolve around his sexuality. He talks about a broad range of topics from his neighbours, to being in Gregg's to playing sports. But each routine is stamped with his acerbic wit. Another style of humour which Mr Carr does EXTREMELY well is bitchiness. There is always that catty "ooh get her" brutality to his observations, but ... ...to spend more than £11 on the DVD as there aren't many extras to warrant spending more money. Forgive the lack of details on this review, but I don't want to give to much of his act away. I'll let Alan Carr show you why he deserves his rave reviews...... ...

Advantages: Hilarious Disadvantages: Missing jokes because ur partner's laughing too hard
...it! Anyway, first saw Alan Carr on The Friday Night Project and thought he was tons better than JLC but that's a different review - however, it did prompt us to get this release. A great deal of the jokes are based on the fact that A C is gay (a bit of a shock if none of you had realised) and I find his camp jokes and prancing about hilarious and not particularly offensive though I could see some would. His stand-up routine is good throughout but ... ...yourself quoting - I won't give any examples as it'll spoil the fun. The observational humour is classic and contemporary.
Usually I fall asleep whilst watching dvds but I stayed awake throughout occassionally wiping the tears of laughter away. Yes, there's some swear words and some slightly offensive material but nothing out of the ordinary - 15 certificate is justified.I've watched it a few times and I still think it's hilarious...can't say better ...
