'Aladdin has always been a favourite of mine. I think I was twelve when it first came out and I went to see it three times in all. It came out before my birthday so I got to see it before, on and after my birthday.

All my birthday presents were things from the film. I had pyjamas with a glow in the dark genie, the sticker book, picture story book, colouring pencils even and of course the Jasmine and Aladdin dolls complete with prince and princess outfits, Abu and a heat reactive lamp which looked clean when you touched it. My mum always makes special cakes and that year my birthday cake was a magic lamp with three wish cup cakes. Each contained a silver charm to add to my charm bracelet. Thats a special memory.

Needless to say I wouldn't have got all that as presents and seen it three times if I didn't think it was great. Robin Williams gives a great performance as the genie. A tremendously witty and fun character. He makes the film complete for me. One of my favourite parts is when Aladdin meets the genie for the first time. He's stuck in the depths of the cave of wonders with nothing but the lamp unknowing of what it can do when he wipes it to read the writing and hey presto the genie. He sings 'Friend Like Me'. A good fun, colourful song.

I guess I like that song and this film in particular because it allows you to escape from reality and dream. The idea that there could be a world where your wishes can be granted and real magic can exist. Probably some of the reason why myself and so many others like Harry Potter. That and the good writing obviously.

If I had three wishes. Its hard actually to decide as there's no end to the possibilities. Anyway here goes.

1. I can resist as I'm one of many not to well off I'd wish to be rich.

2. I'd wish for world peace.

....and finally

3. I'd wish for all disease poverty and famine to be wiped out.

What do you think you'd wish for?

'Aladdin' is one of the many Disney classics. It is a rags to riches story for Aladdin the beggar boy. Aladdin and his pet monkey Abu both steal off the market stalls just get some food to eat. He may be a poor boy of little money but he has a big heart. He comes to the aid of Jasmine the princess, who is disguised as a commoner after running away from home (the palace). She ran away from home feeling trapped. Not wanting to marry the men who her father picked as suitors. After escaping into the village she was going to have her hand cut off after a misunderstanding when Aladdin steps in. He falls for her instantly only to later discover that Jasmine is a princess. Not only does he feel he's inadequate but also there is a problem. Only a prince may marry a princess.

Meanwhile, Jafar, the royal viseer and general evil character plots to make his fortune. He is in search of the lamp in the depths of the cave of wonders. A magic lamp which you rub and a genie appears. Three wishes will then be granted. To obtain that he need an honest boy 'a diamond in the rough'. This being Aladdin, puts him in danger and starts off a rollercoater of out of this world events and a tale of sweet romance.

I don't want to give away too much detail so I'll leave the introduction there.

I love the music in this especially 'A Whole New World'. My other favourite song from the film is 'A Friend Like Me'.

I would recommend this to anyone of any age. Heart-warming and lovely. Also if you like any of the other Disney films you are bound to like this one.
