...This was one of several DVDs I bought at the time when lots of the children's programmes from the 1980s were being brought out. While I love being able to see what I watched as a child all over again, I can't help but feel that something has been lost. The traditional pub conversation with friends "do you remember watching this, and watching that as a kid" is now pretty pointless, since we can watch the TV of our childhood whenever we so wish! In addition to this it can also distort the memories of what once seemed like the best programme ever?.although I think Jimbo is pretty much as I remember.
Jimbo and the Jet Set was a cartoon I enjoyed as a child. Made in 1986, I would have been 5 at the time. It's currently on sale at Amazon at £3.99, but I think I paid the full retail price of £5.99 back when it was released in 2004. It...

...Yes?.I am back on the cartoons again!
The Emperors New Groove, was released in 2000, and seems to have flopped at the box office, in comparison to other Disney titles, taking a mere $80,000,000(!). Kuzco is arrogant and spoilt, it is his 18th birthday soon and the only thing on his mind is building his birthday gift to himself - a brand new water park, Kuzcotopia, & he has chosen one of the hills in his Empire to build on, the only problem is, it means...

...that root ginger comes from the same family as turmeric or that if you burn your mouth with chilli, water won't help, yoghurt will or that puloa (pilaf) rice was created by Indian Moghuls of the 16th century who were inspired by Persian cooking!
It has also taught me a number of practical skills like a foolproof way a preparing basmati rice, the different types of chilli, what they look like, the heat rating of each variety and how to seed and chop them, how to slice mango, how easy it is to combine a few spicesto make your own curry powder (which was apparently a British invention) and even how to eat correctly with your hands (Indian style). In short it's a real education but one thing it doesn't include is the calorie count. This might have been a wise addition - if not too welcome!
But having, hopefully, stirred some interest in...
