Advantages: builds on the first film Disadvantages: lack of dvd extras
I can first remember seeing Airplane when I was very young and it was screened on tv - I loved its comical value then and still do. However I knew very little about the second film for many a year, in fact I had never seen it until a friend described it to me. He started by saying something like Airplane 2, instead of following an airplane, actually revolves around the maiden voyage of Mayflower 1 to the moon and its set some time in the future.
... ...cult category that the first airplane movie did. However the lack of DVD extras is a real shame on both films is a real shame as these could have added so much more to the films. This is available in all good DVD retailers and I own the box set for the two movies which cost under £20.

If you liked airplane then you're sure to love this film as it is filled with similar styled jokes and ideas. This is either really good if you loved the first film, or a complete travesty is you didn't.
--- Plot ---
The basic plot is that the Mayflower I is a passenger space shuttle attempting to make its first trip to the moon, once it has taken off, however, a computer glitch sends the shuttle heading straight towards the sun.
... ...by Robert Hays, was the shuttles test pilot, and had realised that there was a problem when he flew it. The company, needing the shuttle, made striker out to be mad to prevent him testifying against the shuttle.
Ted escapes from his mental hospital and makes it to shuttle only to find that his past love Elaine, played by Julie Hagerty, is a stewardess for the shuttle (he still loves her, she now loves the shuttle pilot). The plot essentially pans ...
