News Anchor - We are getting reports that Air Force One has been hijacked. The presidential 747 Jumbo was brining officials and the whole First family home from Russia
Moscow Correspondent - Well, irony of ironies, the president made a speech today around 4 hours ago, saying that America wouldn't negotiate with terrorists. This was in response to the capture of General Radek, leader of Kazakhstan, and threats towards America by his allies.
Expert - That makes an interesting situation. Don't negotiate, but then what will happen to the plane and the people on-board.
Ex-Air Force One Pilot - Well, Air Force One has an escape pod so hopefully, the president has made it to the pod and escaped, the pod has reportedly been seen, but this has not been confirmed.
News Anchor - We have just learnt that the pod has been found and it is empty, I repeat again, the escape pod is empty.
Expert - This may actually be good for the situation as the president was a helicopter pilot in Nam and got a medal-of-honour. He just might be able to help.
News Anchor - That's the question, can he help, what will happen, I don’t know and guessing won't help.
Expert - The last thing; who are the terrorists, my best guess is that they are Kazakhstan nationals. They're local to the area, and the plane is heading in that general direction.

Good clean fun! This is a true adventure film, out of 124 minutes, only about 10 or fifteen minutes is build-up, the rest is pure action. It is perhaps a little over the top at times, but nonetheless very good.
However, it is not everyone's idea of a perfect film, and is certainly not original.
The script is surprisingly good and the plot isn't bad.
It is an ageing film, so you should get it relatively cheap in your local film store. Rating - 15 Length - 124 minutes
Advantages: Great acting from Harrison Ford. Disadvantages: Quite a lot of hi-jacking films about. Not most original story.
...of top government officials on Air Force One - one of the most guarded planes.
A few minutes into the journey the plane gets hi-jacked by terrorists led by Korshunov (Gary Oldman). Thinking the President has escaped, he then threatens to start killing passengers every half hour unless his country's imprisoned dictator is freed. Marshall then realises it is his responsibility to protect his family and the other passengers.
The Vice President (Glenn ... ...they keep their word and stert killing passengers.
The President then comes up with a plan to get the passengers of the plane by getting them to parachute out the escape hatch while the terrorists are waiting on confirmation that their dictator has been released. Unfortunately the First Lady, the daughter and a couple of other hostages are still stuck on the plane.
I won't give away the ending in case you haven't seen it.

Advantages: Excellent acting, great plot Disadvantages: Annoying American kids
...disaster when Russian radicals hijack Air Force One – the presidential plane. Gary Oldman plays the insane radical leader who will kill everyone until his leader, a massively right-wing general, is released. Ford has to try and save the people on the plane while maintaining his morals and principles on terrorism, using all his resourcefulness to prevent disaster.
Both Ford and Oldman act brilliantly, with pinache and style, and the rest of the cast ... ...of pathetic and stupid American teenagers doing stupid things, like running into a corridor full of crossfire (d’oh!). This is in the form of the President’s daughter – she redeems herself with some decent acting later in the film. Special effects are good, and there are enough plot twists to keep you watching until the end. Hell, even when you think the film’s finished there’s more plot twists!

Air Force 1 is the 1997 film starring Harrison Ford and directed by Wolfgang Peterson which takes place mainly on the President of the United States' jet plane, named Air Force 1. It is a well filmed, praised film which pits an on form Harrison Ford against terrorists. It received 2 Oscar nominations and is another tick in the plus column of Ford's films.
President James Marshall (Ford) is an ex-soldier. When Air Force 1 is hijacked with him on ... ...save everyone on the plane, including his family. The film has a very basic plot, but is filmed with high intensity to give maximum impact. Peterson does well in controlling this film and not letting it become too cheesy.
There are moments where the improbably occur, particularly regarding some of the technical specifications of the plane and also the likelihood of AF1 being hijacked so easily. Gary Oldman excels as Korshunov, leader of the hijackers, ...

...and getting promoted, who's aeroplane, Air Force One, is hijacked. If you think the plot is over the top wait until you see some of the things Ford has to do to keep his family safe!
A little over the top in places, but the film is saved by some suspensful scenes that are well acted and well directed. If you haven't seen Patriot Games you might want to watch this instead, if you have seen Patriot Games, then this is a bit more of the same but not ...

canabalising on what they can at night.
With only his dog for company Robert spends his days in a routine of waiting for possible survivors to answer his radio call, trying to find a cure or by some of the actions that show us an insight into a man that is very much alone and losing his mind. (He rents dvds and returns them to the store, talks to manekins and plays golf off airforceone. )
The settings and special effects are amazing and Will Smiths performance is stunning.
The dvd itself has a great cover and some fab screenshots, there is only one lot of extras which is a group of comic book type shorts I would have expected a making of or at least some additional bits on how they developed the books original concept etc.. so a bit let down there.
This dvd is listed in most places under the horror genre and if you're after a scary ...

The movie to watch! If you haven't seen it & consider yourself to be a sci-fi fan, go and gouge your own eyes out with a blunt teaspoon. Otherwise go and watch, buy or rent it NOW! (freely available on dvd and video )
The film features great performances from such fine actors as Harrison Ford (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, AirForceOne, The Fugitive), Rutger Hauer (too many obscure films to remember, but a brilliant British advert for Guiness!), Sean Young (Dune, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective). Daryl Hannah (Splash, Roxanne, Attack Of The 50ft Woman).
The music was written by Vangelis, a Greek keyboard wizard. Special effects were credited by Douglas Trumbell (Silent Running and 2001: A Space Odessey). The visuals are stunning, the music suits the film perfectly and the effects all still stand up very strongly to the test of time ...
Advantages: Fun for its target audience, good actors Disadvantages: stupid writing, lousy direction and no sense

All in all, CON AIR delivers it exactly what it promises: a mindless, ridiculous film full of explosions, stupid dialogue, over-the-top characters, and laughable twists. I enjoyed it once, and that?s more than enough for me; I don?t understand some of those die-hard action fans out there who think this film is ?brilliant? and wants to own it on DVD for the rest of their lives. What I do know is that AIRFORCEONE was by far the superior airplane-hijacking thriller of 1997, mostly because it had a certain amount of intelligence contributed to it. CON AIR was fun on a brain-dead level, though it would be impossible for me to watch it again after a long time. I recommend this film only as a one-time flight, but ...

President James Marshall (Harrison Ford) is one of the most respected leaders in the history of America. When Kazakhstanian separatists commit atrocities on their own people, Marshall authorizes a guerrilla mission to take their leader, General Radek (Jurgen Prochnow), into custody and restore the democratic regime. In his speech afterward, the president vows never to let America hesitate again when dealing with terrorists. However, that's before a group of them, led by the ruthless Korchunov (Gary Oldman) take over his own flight on Air Force One, with his wife and young daughter also on board. President Marshall, a decorated Vietnam veteran, becomes a one-man vigilante force in his efforts to free his family and the other hostages, retake the plane, and thwart the hijackers. Director Wolfgang Petersen's thrilling film is supported by an excellent ensemble cast, which includes William H. Macy, Philip Baker Hall, and Glenn Close as Kathryn Bennett, the vice president who must hold the Cabinet together in Marshall's absence.
