There are thousands of movie websites on the internet, some that look completely professional to some that are made in one persons bedroom. Ain't It Cool has been going for 10 years, has been visited by millions of people, but still has a very homemade, personal quality. I don't think the site has changed much since it was first online.
The site is dedicated to rumours and news about upcoming and newly released films and TV projects, although the emphasis is on the Sci-Fi, action and comic book genres. The rumours are something that helped propel this site into the stratosphere. Anyone can submit a rumour, whether it be an anonymous source or someone they know works in the business. Many times have they been on the money about things and many times have they leaked official images or trailers that have immediately been taken down by the studios.
Harry's reviews are known to be rather colourful. He doesn't hold back and says what he really feels. In 1997 he posted scathing reviews about Batman & Robin, which the studios blamed for the weak box office takings. But then everyone else started the same thing, vindicating what Harry wrote.
There have also been celebrities posting on the site. After each news item there is a talkback section, where Bruce Willis is known to have posted to promote "Live Free or Die Hard". Don't go there if you don't need to though, trolls of the most offensive kind live there, and if you read enough of their comments your brain will melt. Sly Stallone also gave an opportunity for people to ask him questions, garnering thousands of responses. So many in fact, that I think he answered a lot more than he set out to.
Overall, a good site, especially if you want to get the behind the scenes gossip of any upcoming film (script, casting etc). A site made with passion, and recommend for anyone else who has the same passion about films.
Advantages: great characters and animation Disadvantages: not many dvd extras
about the period it's set in with references to america's fascination with all things nuclear. It also has a lot of humour and you'd never think you could care so much for a 50-foot tall piece of metal. Harry Knowles of AintItCoolNews.Com raved about the film and rightly so but sadly it didn't really set the box office alight.
The dvd is in it's original 2.35:1 widescreen format and is anamorphic. The transfer I would imagine came from a digital source so it's pristine. The colours are all incredibly strong and vibrant. The Region 1 version also has a 4:3 version on the flipside of the disc.
The sound is in Dolby Digital 5.1 and it's avery lively mix with some very deep bass in the later pafrts of the film. Dialogue is well mixed and sound effects are well balanced with every speaker.
As for the extras well what you get isn ...
Advantages: Can Be Used As A Drinks Coaster Disadvantages: Bad Acting, Bad Direction, Bad Editing, Bad Script, Just Bad
that this was a copycat killer. But no, in fact it turns out that the fisherman is still around only this time he's a kind of zombie and when you think about it, why should he care what these kids did last summer. They didn't hit him in a car, they didn't crank call him, maybe he was just bored.
Director of this clagfest is a man known as Sylvain White whose previous efforts include Trois 3: The Escort, yes I've never heard of it either. In a revealing interview with AintItCoolNews he says he took the job, as it was a good opportunity to show his potential. Well I wouldn't expect any big gigs Sylvain as this is one of the worst examples of directing I've seen in a long time. The editing is extremely bad with no sense of rhythm whilst the scares are non existent and any horror film that resorts to jump sound effects really is in a great ...
Advantages: good dark humour, decent acting, tons of blood Disadvantages: flat looking, runs out of ideas
Ginger Snaps is one of those films that quietly gets released and discovered by being championed by well known sites such as AintItCoolNews. It also got favourable reviews in some of the major UK film magazines. So being a sucker for good horror movies I deceied to take a look in the comfort of my own home. You see this film is available on R4 dvd for a few pounds more than the price of a cinema ticket.
Ginger and her sister Bridgette are teenage girls with problems. They are seen as the school freaks and like nothing better than staging grusome death scenes for showing in classroom projects. They dress in a gothic style and aren't really that sociable. In their dank and dingy town, dogs are being savagely killed by some unknown beast and one night this beast attacks and bites Ginger. Yes it a werewolf and soon Ginger is becoming ...
