I decided to make the most of the last day without my boys and sat down to watch a good chick flick! Addicted to Love is one which I have seen in Tesco?s on many occasions but decided not to buy as it is not my hubby?s sort of film. I am please to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The film is centred around Sam who at the start of the film is madly in love with his girlfriend who takes a two month job in New York. Sam is excited when she is due back but soon he finds himself devastated when his girlfriend father tell him that she is staying in New York and their relationship is over. Sam goes to New York to track her down and to bring her home.
Sam arrives in New York to find his girlfriend is living with a new man. He soon meets Maggie who is the ex-fiancé of the man his girlfriend is living with and they decide to team up to gat Sam his girl back and let Maggie get her revenge on her ex.
Will Maggie and Sam succeed in their plan and will Sam get the love of his life back or will he realise his love lies elsewhere?
I thought that this film was great. From the beginning I was hooked and thought that it was very funny. After the first half and hour I had worked out what was going to happen and how it would end but for some reason this did not bother me. The story line is good and I thought that the characters were great.
Meg Ryan, Mollie and Matthew Broderick, Sam were great in their role and made their characters very believable. I thought that the pair worked very well together and had a great on screen chemistry. Kelly Preston and Tcheky Karyo were also good in their role as the ex partners.
There was a lot of humour in the film which for me made it so much more watch able as it took the film away from just being a love story.
I did find the accent of Tcheky Karyo very annoying and at times I did think he was putting his French accent on and expected him to start speaking with an American accent. I do apologies to him as he is indeed French but to me t did not seem real, maybe because he was surrounded by American accents which made it stand out more. Apart from the accent he was a great actor and I loved his character and thought he did suffer!
The DVD which I have does have a few bonus features which include:-
Interactive Menus Production Notes Scenes Access Trailer
There is only really the Production notes which are a feature as the other items which the DVD cover has listed as special features are just standard on any DVD. I did not watch the production notes as they just did not interest me at all.
The running time of this film is 96 minutes which I feel is a great length and the film moved at a good pace and did not drag at any time. The film was produced by Bob Weinsten and Harvey Weinstein and was Directed by Griffin Dunne. It was released in 1997 by Warner Brothers.
I picked my DVD up for the bargain price of £3 in Tesco and I do recommend this film as a very funny chick flick.

Nothing quite like a Frenchman "doing" a French accent! I always think of the policeman in Allo Allo and wonder what the French make of that! Richard. xxx
