not-very-funny movie about a pair of jilted lovers (Meg Ryan and Matthew Broderick) who conspire to break up a relationship between their ex-sweethearts (Tchéky Karyo and Kelly Preston). Part classic screwball comedy, part nightmare along the lines of Martin Scorsese'sAfter Hours(in which Dunne starred), part tribute to Hitchcock'sRear Window,Addicted to Loveis all over the map and seriously hampered by the sheer, unwarranted nastiness aimed at the innocent characters played by Karyo and Preston. The DVD release includes production notes, original theatrical trailer, optional widescreen and standard formats, and optional French and Spanish soundtracks. --Tom Keogh, Amazon.com

reunion of the stars (Tom Hanks, Meg Ryan) and director (Nora Ephron) of Sleepless in Seattle. Greg Kinnear, Parker Posey, Jean Stapleton and more talented co-stars add perfect support to this valentine to modern - to modem - romance in which superstore book chain magnate Hanks and cosy children's bookshop owner Ryan are anonymous e-mail cyberpals who fall head-over-laptops in love, unaware they are combative business rivals. You've got rare Hollywood magic when You've Got Mail.Addicted To Love:What would you do if that someone special dumped you? After seeing the delightful Addicted to Love, the better question is what wouldn't you do!Meg Ryan and Matthew Broderick take a funny look at love's obsessive side as Maggie and Sam, teaming for revenge when their exes (Kelly Preston and Tcheky Karyo) team for romance. The film is centred around Sam who at the start of the film is madly in love with his girlfriend who takes a two month job in New York. Sam is excited when she is due back but soon he finds himself devastated when his girlfriend father tell him that she is staying in New York and their relationship is over. Sam goes to New York to track her down and to bring her home.

Will Maggie and Sam succeed in their plan and will Sam get the love of his life back or will he realise his love lies elsewhere?
I thought that this film was great. From the beginning I was hooked and thought that it was very funny. After the first half and hour I had worked out what was going to happen and how it would end but for some reason this did not bother me. The story line is good and I thought that the characters were great.
Meg Ryan, Mollie and Matthew Broderick, Sam were great in their role and made their characters very believable. I thought that the pair worked very well together and had a great on screen chemistry. Kelly Preston and Tcheky Karyo were also good in their role as the ex partners.
There was a lot of humour in the film which for me made it so much more watch able as it took the film away from just being a love story.
I did find the accent of Tcheky Karyo very annoying and at times I did think he was putting his French accent on and expected him to start speaking with an American accent. I do apologies to him as he is indeed French but to me t did not seem real, maybe because he was surrounded by American accents which made it stand out more. Apart from the accent he was a great actor and I loved his character and thought he did suffer!
The DVD which I have does have a few bonus features which include:-
Interactive Menus Production Notes Scenes Access Trailer
There is only really the Production notes which are a feature as the other items which the DVD cover has listed as special features are just standard on any DVD. I did not watch the production notes as they just did not interest me at all.
The running time of this film is 96 minutes which I feel is a great length and the film moved at a good pace and did not drag at any time. The film was produced by Bob Weinsten and Harvey Weinstein and was Directed by Griffin Dunne. It was released in 1997 by Warner Brothers.
I picked my DVD up for the bargain price of £3 in Tesco and I do recommend this film as a very funny chick flick.
Advantages: Meg Ryan, it's a nice film Disadvantages: More for the lasses than the lads
Addicted to Love is a romantic comedy featuring two extremely amiable stars. Meg Ryan and Matthew Broderick are both competent, inoffensive stars, who (generally) make competent inoffensive movies.
Sam (Matthew Broderick) is an astronomer whose girlfriend Linda(Kelly Preston) goes to New York to teach and decides to stay, dumping him in the process. Naturally, he goes to see her only to hear a man's voice coming from inside her hotel room. He decides ... ...(Tcheky Karyo), and takes up residence in the abandoned building opposite their apartment. During the first few days, he encounters Maggie (Meg Ryan), who it turns out, was engaged to Anton.
Maggie and Sam team up to try and split up the happy couple, doing whatever it takes. Sam is obsessed with winning Linda back and Maggie wants Anton humiliated and destroyed.
If you have ever seen a romantic comedy then you'll know exactly what happens in the ...

Advantages: not a lot of thinking required Disadvantages: not a lot of thinking required
I love Meg Ryan, and I love DVDs, hence I bought this movie! It's not particularly famous, and not due any awards, but it is wonderfully inoffensive and sweet.
The DVD itself if great as it has more than the boring so-called 'special feature' of scene access and subtitles but also other trailers - more romantic comedies - and something on the camera obscura, which has a major role in the film... "It's not a camera!" This piece of apparatus is very ... ...(played by Matthew Broderick) who convinces himself he's not spying on his ex-girlfriend because he's not using a camera.
This is a film you have to have if you're a Meg Ryan fan, she's great as always, or if you simply want something that only needs minimal attention on a Friday night after a hard week at work.
There are deeper issues about what could be considered stalking, they are not really explored, but it could make you think if you want ...

Advantages: If you love Meg Ryan she is Hilarious in this one! Disadvantages: had a hard tiem not seeing Matthew Broderik as Ferris Bueller's age
I loved this movie. Meg Ryan was awesome in it. Meg Ryan and Matthew Broderick make a great team. If you ever need revenge or help getting back an exlover this is your team! The sets where great and the story line was one of the best I have seen in quite some time. If your looking for a good love story with plenty of laughs--this is the one. The two of them teamed up makes for a great revenge scheme, some of the things they will do is hilarious. ...

The DVD also includes special features such as a backstage interview and behind the scenes footage. This in itself is really interesting. It talks about how long the stage (which is very impressive) took to build and about the dancers, etc.
I can say that Tina Turner puts on the best concert show ever – and yes, she has brilliant legs with ‘those stilettos’ and everything else for a 60 year old. The young and old alike attended this concert. I believe this DVD would appeal to many age groups and is a must for anyone that has ever seen her in concert.
I have been to see many people in concert such as Bon Jovi, Robbie Williams, Ronan Keating, Bryan Adams, Texas – but Tina Turner beats them hands down. She was ...
Advantages: Great acting Disadvantages: Deeply depressing
it. Hoffman's performance was so realistic that I found it really hard to switch off from the film afterwards.
To some extent, the ending wasn't quite as satisfactory as it could have been. At the same time, I think it was an excellent portrayal of real life, warts and all, and I can only applaud Gordy Hoffman and Todd Louiso for having the guts to tackle a subject as raw as this that was never going to be a success commercially.
I'm going to knock a star off for the fact that this film is so damn depressing, but I do still recommend this film to anyone that can cope with watching a film as bluntly realistic as this. If you've recently been depressed, have lost someone close to you or have a loved one struggling with an addiction, this film is probably not for you.
I watched the film only, but the DVD is available from play ...

"...A revenge comedy that's a sick kick to the funny bone..." -- 3 out of 4 stars (USA Today, p.3D, 23/05/1997)
DVD Description
Two jilted lovers, an astronomer and a one-time biker chick, team up to spy on their involved exes only to fall in love with each other. An uneven romp with hints of dark wit.
