...have the humour be all Addams style and no substance but the film delivers both. The style of the Addams Family is, not surprisingly, dark and gothic which is reflected in the house. However we see a lot less of that than in the first film. Addams Family is a film that did not reach my expectations. The storyline was weak and I thought that the humour was a bit lame for me. However, Addams Family Values was one of the greatest films I have seen to this day. It contains everything that makes a good family film what it is: a strong plot, appropriate humour, love and a bad guy. ...film. Just everything about the Addams family makes me laugh. Some of the later scenes, where the Granny says the baby may end up as a lawyer, and Gomez breaks down and nearly starts crying, makes me laugh, a lot. Its not just the kookyness of the family, but its the way they are portrayed, and the gothic mansion in which they live, as well as the beautiful gothic music, all adds to the scene building, and the wonderful portrayal of the family. ...
...across Morticas eyes is great, and makes her look, well, inhuman. Uncle Fester, played greatly by Christopher Lloyd, is also good. But by far the best characters are Wednesday, and Gomez. The superb acting skills of Wednesday, makes her a real joy to watch, and her dark humour is great.
