square-jawed hero with the over-developed pecs. This well-animated film is great entertainment and, although the storyline and dialogue may not be terribly original, it has everything a "Team Xtreme" fan could wish for: gadgets, extreme sport and non-stop action. There is also a proper baddy with a proper baddy's name, Dr. X, and a strong tendency for good to triumph over evil. The action starts immediately with Action Man, Alex Mann, head-to-head with his best friend and rival, Brandon Caine, racing across the rooftops of Paris. Brandon brings the "buddy" element to the story and acts as the catalyst for adventure when he falls into the clutches of the evil doctor.Frankly, Brandon is not very likeable--even before he's been "adapted" by Dr. X--and it's hard to see why Alex and his team, a rag-tag posse of assorted personalities, bother to try and free him. Fortunately they do, enabling Alex to test the AMP Factor, the recently discovered mental ability that allows him to consider every possibility in a flash and perform impossible escapes. This special feature-length episode is followed by a shorter story,Grey Areasin which Alex learns more about the AMP Factor and encounters a beautiful assassin. The scene is set for further adventures and volume two,Action Man, Storm Frontis also available. This video contains some violence, hence the PG classification, but should be suitable for most children aged eight and over.--Helen Baker

Advantages: distracts the children Disadvantages: not funny, humour very simple and mostly slapstick or toilet houmour.
I'm quite surprised to learn that some people atually like the animated series of Mr Bean, and find it just as entertaining, if not more appealing than the 'proper' Mr Bean.
When I refer to proper Mr Bean I am of course talking about Rowna Atkinson's smash hit comedy sitcom in the 90's which followed a dry and whimsical character make a complete mess of very simple everyday activities like a trip to the swimming pool, parking his car, or visiting the cinema.
Personally I love the original Mr Bean, although some detest his bumbling foolish nature, I find him entertaining on a unique scale. Maybe it's because a part of me feels sorry for him or that in some cercumstances it is really quite ingenuis how you can get make some of the simplest tasks a complete disaster.
However the animated series proved to be a complete let down ...
Advantages: Cartoon entertainment for kids Disadvantages: not as funny as the original, bad graphics, poor comedy
into the most hilarious of misadventures.
He rarely speaks and mumbles all the time. Mr Bean the original used used body language as apposed to words, to deliver the major portion of his dialog. He also brought out a full length film in 1997 entitled ''Bean The Ultimate Disater Movie'', so having mastered both the big and small screen how else could they 'milk' Rowan's genius character... Well animation of course. What other way to perfectly destroy what was done and dusted in the 90's. I personally think the film was good but in parts was pushing the unique Mr Bean character.
