Lady, you got 10 absurd ideas to my 1
Advantages: Bogart and Hepburn, the stunning location Disadvantages: Nothing really
...know why, as it's not the sort of thing I would usually go for, but I'm glad I did. It won Bogart a well deserved Oscar and is visually stunning. The biggest appeal is that it relies heavily on Bogart and his co star Katherine Hepburn. Both stars are brilliant.
The film opens with a deadly assault on a mission somewhere in German occupied Africa during the war, with Hepburn playing the missionary who is forced to team up with alcoholic river trader ... ...German warship armed only with the two torpedoes on board Bogart's tiny river boat, The African Queen.
The biggest thing about the film is the relationship between Charlie (Bogart) and Rosie (Hepburn). Initially confrontational due to the other's habits, they soon develop agreements and find that their cohabitation is going to be easier than they initially thought. Normally a calm and smouldering screen presence, Bogart plays the 'lad' really well ...

The Bear
Advantages: Amazing scenery Disadvantages: Week story and can easily get bored watching
The Bear is one of my husbands favourite films and he has been trying to get it on DVD for a very long time so I decided I would treat him for when he returned home from Afghan. The only trouble with getting it for him is that he wanted me to watch it with him!
THE FILM
The film is set in the mountains of British Columbia in 1885.
The film is based on a bear cub who looses his mother when a big rock falls on her. He is left all alone struggling ... ...the bear wants nothing to do with the cub as the male bears do not rear the cubs. The male bear gets shot by hunters who are out in the forest looking for a kill. The wounded bear goes off and tries to heal his wound. The brave bear cub goes over to him and helps him by licking his wound. The male bear befriends the cub and decides that he will watch out and protect him from the hunters.
The hunters are angry that the bear was not killed when they ...

Around the World in 80 Days
Advantages: Some funny moments, its entertaining, range of actors used (both English & American) Disadvantages: Slightly slow in parts, a bit cheesy/predictable
...Fogg and Passepartout is chased around the world by the English government. Of course there's a valid reason why Chan's character stole this Buddha, as often is the case in these type of movies he stars in, it turns out that the Buddha figurine had originally been stolen from his hometown in China and if it isn't returned to its rightful home, then it will face a bleak future. hence his reason to join Fogg, so he can return it when they reach China. ... ...is a French artist called Monique (Played by Cecile de France), who they find in Paris, who decides to join them for the adventure and to be inspired to paint more semi amateur impressionist paintings (they find her at an art exhibition, though she's no professional and is only employed for menial work).
This film features more of the usual Chan comedy martial arts scenes, it is pretty amusing in points and is generally quite diverting. It isn't ...

The standard for Navy Seals must have dropped then?
Advantages: Penny Cruz Disadvantages: Penny Cruz badly used and not enough plot
Above average but only just. Penny Cruz is woefully underused in this movie. What's the point of casting a hot lady like her and then really playing down her sexuality. Matt M isn't really action enough to be a Navy Seal and neither is his mate. His friend is such a bad shot, he's supposed to be a SEAL? Navy Seals everywhere should be boycotting this movie in droves. The bad marksmanship, the inability to leopard crawl or kitten crawl as neither ... ...asses down. I felt like I was watching someone attempt to try and answer National Treasure or beat the new Indy Jones film to the box office, if that was the case then they failed in both respects. Its a bit of desert exploration with the possibility of treasure then an enviromental message (I know thats not much of a plot description but theres not a lot to describe), a lot of mindless action and hardly any good use of possibly THE sexiest actress ...
