Lock, Stock and Two Thumbs Up!

Advantages: Great direction, acting, plot twists
Disadvantages: Bad lannguage and rather bloodthirsty - you have been warned!!

LOCK, STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS film only review Eddy: "They're armed." Soap: "Armed!? armed with what?" Eddy: "Err, bad breath, colourful language, feather duster... what do you think they're gonna be armed with? Guns, you tit!" Soap: "A minute ago this was the safest job in the world. Now it's turning into a bad day in Bosnia." In 1998 an unknown British film Director named Guy Ritchie set off to film a side of London that was ...
...dialogue. In 1999 Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels was released world wide. It introduced the world to Ritchie's groovy stylized of the London underworld, and it was unlike anything viewers had witnessed in a long time. It was an unbelievable amount of fun, yet at the same time as smart and fresh as anything that had seen in the last few years. It doesn't take long to realize you're in for a cinematic treat, I think I first acknowledged it when ...

Bigger minis, smaller willies

Advantages: Good heist, nice little minis
Disadvantages: Characters a bit on the girly side for crims

...not a huge fan of the constantly unshaved Jason Statham, his parts in Guy Ritchie's films (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrells and Snatch) were definitely the peak of his career, his part in The Bank Job was reasonable but back in 2003 when he was in The Italian Job, the performance was little more than that of a PG tips chimpanzee. Despite always being there, he has very little in the way of important parts and seems to be there merely to make ...
...Bridger (Charlize Theron) who have the most important parts, wannabe son and real life daughter of former criminal master mind John Bridger (Donald Sutherland) whose life was ended by a rat amongst the heist team seek revenge with the help of the rest of the team. Charlie Croker seems a bit of a soft lad but plots the robbery to perfection. The heist both at the beginning and end are filled with excitement and are particularly fun and despite the ...

Crank It Up

Advantages: Quality action scenes, Jason Statham THE MAN FOR THE PART!!
Disadvantages: If there is such a thing as too much action...

...movie than a blunt instrument, Crank is an explosion of sex, violence and drugs, which have their effects used in the short term, but showing in every scene becomes a tad tedious. From the look of it, first time directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor looked to make a compact film with a running time of 83 minutes. Although the size, the directors refused to leave out any graphic scene, which they had obviously been storing up for their cinematic ...
...hitman, Chev Chelios (One of the worst hitman names in cinematic history) who has been lethally injected with some sort of Chinese sh*t, which he realises when he finds a DVD on his of course, huge flat screen television. From the obscenity scrawled across his face you could tell that it was not there before he went to bed. The DVD is of a cringingly stereotypical Latino villain Verona (Jose Pablo Cantillo) gleefully gloating about injecting him ...

Have A Good Life. Whats Left Of It

Advantages: Good fast paced action movie, decent martial arts scenes
Disadvantages: Could have done with another big name

...did really like the first Transporter movie and so it was really inevitable that I’d be seeing this regardless of my prior concerns about it. Statham resumes his role from the first movie as a Transporter, a man paid to deliver things from one place to another. Only this time he has moved to Miami and the films starts with him doing a favour for a friend and acting as a chauffer. When the little boy he is driving around becomes the target of a kidnapping ...
...This second instalment of the Transporter series sees Statham team up for the second time with Louis Leterrier. His direction seems to have come on a little from the first movie but with that in mind it still looks pretty good. The fight sequences are very well choreographed and look really well put together. The car and boat chases also look amazing with Leterrier really using some great angles and effects to create a film that looks really good. ...

Not your usual suspects

Advantages: Great actors, good story, nice sound track.
Disadvantages: none

Mean Machines – Not your usual suspects. Mean Machines was released in 2001 and is on TV quite a lot. It was shown a few weeks ago on Film4 so I thought I’d do a quick review as it is also a brilliant film and one of my favourites. Being a big football fan I instantly liked the plot and the fact Vinnie Jones was starred in it. I was a fan of Vinnie as a footballer and thought he played his role well in this. I don’t really like sitting down and watching ...
...as comedy, friendship and morals. Mean Machines is a comedy adapted from the 1974 American film 'The Longest Yard' which is American football instead of football. PLOT Vinnie Jones plays Danny Meehan a superstar footballer who is jailed for assault on a police officer and finds it hard to fit in. He soon makes a few friends and tries to keep his head down but the Warden offers him a deal. Play a game of football against the guards and he may get ...
