Dirty Harry faces a crazed sniper named Scorpio.
Review of Dirty Harry DVD by
filmfreak2005
Advantages: Clint Eastwood at his best.
Disadvantages: None to list.
...is the first of the Dirty Harry series, and in this film, Harry and the San Francisco police department face a lunatic sniper who names himself 'Scorpio' (Andy Robinson) . At the start of the film, Scorpio shoots dead a young woman who is taking a swim in a rooftop swimming pool. Scorpio demands a ransom of $100,000 or he will continue to kill one person per day.
Harry is given a new partner in the form of Chico Gonzalez (Reni Santoni). Harry's ... ...then punches him. Also the Dirty Harry classic line is used twice in this film - 'I know what you're thinking. Did he fire six shots or only five? To tell the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world...and would blow your head clean off. You've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya, punk?'
A brilliant film with good solid performances from ...

Its a dirty job but someones got to do it
Review of Dirty Harry Collection (Box Set) by
harj123
Advantages: tense, exciting well acted cop thriller
Disadvantages: might be too violent for some viewers
Dirty harry[1971] is one of most successful cop films ever and also highly controvesial. When it was released it drew criticism for its violence.Directed briskly by Don siegel and set in San francisco, its a tense thriller which pitches cop "Dirty " Harry callahan against killer "Scorpio".Harry is called "Dirty" because he takes on the tough cases that all other cops stay clear of.He is a widower, has few real friends and works best alone. He is dedicated ... ...direction.The style was maintained for dirty harry but with a rougher harder edge. The film has a cat and mouse chase feel with harry racing against time to capture scorpio.Eastwood shows the edge and relentless pace that harry works at really well. The one liners that eastwood delivers have become part of movie legend. The "do you feel lucky well do ya punk" is a classic. He also shows harry more vulnerabe side how he does what he does to escape the ...

The Original Hard-Nosed Cop
Review of Dirty Harry DVD by
the_mad_cabbie
Advantages: A true classic.
Disadvantages: Clothes and hairstyles are somewhat dated!
...took the opportunity to include Dirty Harry as one of my selections.
~ ~ Certain characters have now entered cinema folklore and taken on almost iconic stature. Most everyone will have seen at least one "Rambo" movie with Sly Stallone, or one of the Harrison Ford "Raider" series. And then you have the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator, Bruce Willis in the "Die Hard" series, and Mel Gibson in "Lethal Weapon". It would be fair to say ... ...~ ~ The original Dirty Harry movie that the subsequent series was based on took the movie world by storm back in 1971, and caused a furore in the media worldwide. Back then the star, Clint Eastwood, wasn't the well-known and respected Oscar-winning actor that he is today. In fact, he was best known as a leading actor in Westerns, in particular the "Fistful of Dollars" series, and in the long-playing TV series "Rawhide". (1959 - 1966) So it was a ...

pc2308
Advantages: Good acting by Eastwood
Disadvantages: Poor quality film, low Budget, bad script
Coogan's Bluff is a very low budget film starring Clint Eastwood. Made in 1968 after his successful run of Spaghetti Westerns, Eastwood stars in two films in this year. Coogan's Bluff and Where Eagles Dare. The Producer / Director Don Siegel (Dirty Harry, A Mule For Sister Sara, Escape From Alcatraz), used Herman Miller and co-writers Dean Riesner, Howard Rodmans script to bring to the screen through Universal Pictures - Coogan's Bluff. The film ... ...3 millions dollars), but the relationship between Siegel and Eastwood would be set for the next ten years where the character played by Eastwood, would be developed in to the well known and popular Inspector Harry Callahan (Dirty Harry).
The Story....

Shutup Madigan before I slap you
Review of Madigan DVD by
Phelthew
Advantages: The villain. Fonda's acting
Disadvantages: Richard Widmark's acting. Lots of pointless scenes
Madigan is a 1968 film directed by Don Siegel starring Richard Widmark in the lead role. The film starts off and Dan Madigan and his partner Rocca Banero are two detectives who are about to bring a criminal Banesch in for questioning. However, things go wrong and Benesch escapes taking the detectives guns with him. This obviously doesn't go down well in the station and the men are fined five days pay for loosing their guns and since Benesch has now ... ...every single film. His character Madigan was not in the least likable. A maverick cop who doesn't play by the rules is by now too clichéd but it's not even that. The only rule breaking Madigan does in the film is bully people for police discount and threaten to drop a heavy desk on an old woman. The weird thing is after the table scene this almost victorious sounding music plays as if Madigan done a great job. It's clear at the end that you were ...
