Tomorrow is just another day for Bond

Advantages: Great modern work all round
Disadvantages: Ever so slightly lacks Cubby Broccoli's magic

Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) is the 18th Bond film, and the second starring Pierce Brosnan as James Bond. Brosnan's first outing as Bond in Goldeneye in 1995 was a great success following a 6 year gap since Timothy Dalton's Bond in Licence to Kill in1989. Goldeneye bridged the gap following the end of the Cold War and the reduction of Soviet villains for Bond, and paved the way for a more modern Bond dealing with more topical issues, as we see here ...
...Goldeneye. While there was success, Tomorrow Never Dies did not rise straight to the top of the box office chart as it was released on the same day as Titanic - not necessarily an error on anyone's part, for who would have thought anything else could have outsold a Bond film? But it did, even though the total amount taken at the box office was more than Goldeneye. Bond musical legend John Barry again opted out of adapting music for the film, but ...

Oh, James, you do pick them!!

Advantages: Robert Carlyle is an amazing villain
Disadvantages: Slightly over the top

Glamour is increasing in the Bond productions, with the special effects and gadgetry associated with Bond, the famous Bond girls being portrayed by models or already well known actresses who are also treated as sex symbols, and Bond himself, here played by Pierce Brosnan for the third time. The new wave of the Bond team has by now set itself into a comfortable slot, and has attracted a good following with the style of filming and characterisation. ...
...another world domination plot. The Plot James Bond is sent to find the man who ordered the killing of M's friend, Sir Robert King, British oil tycoon. The assassin was under the employ of Renard, a man who had previously survived an assassination atempt by 009, but was left with a bullet in his head, leaving him impervious to pain. Believing King's daughter, Elektra, to be Renard's intended target, Bond is dispatched to protect her and the oil ...

Bond 20 is a pillar for the franchise

Advantages: Excellent villain, strong plot
Disadvantages: Slightly over the top with the special effects

Die Another Day is the 20th Bond film, and was released in 2002, the year of the 40th anniversary of the Bond film franchise. It was Pierce Brosnan's last outing as the MI6 agent, and was met with acclaim as well as criticism. The special effects take another step up and the action sequences are breathtaking. The Plot Bond liases with South Korean agents to prevent rogue North Korean officer and arms dealer Colonel Moon from starting an all out ...
...well. My Opinion Die Another Day is a very good film for many different reasons. Toby Stephens is one of them, but the other performances must not be overlooked. As the 20th film on the 40th anniversary, there were references to every single previous Bond film, which are too many to quote here, but can all be found by doing a single google search. I thoroughly enjoyed searching for them, though in the end I had to give up for some and look on the ...

"They'll print anything these days!"

Advantages: Great fun at its best
Disadvantages: Becomes a bit mechanical after a while

Tomorrow Never Dies was first released in 1997 and is the eighteenth James Bond film and the second to feature Pierce Brosnan in the iconic role. The plot of the film revolves around a media mogul called Elliot Carver (Jonathan Pryce) attempting to start a new world conflict to boost his television empire. Carver wants exclusive broadcast rights to China and believes a war will be the best way to eliminate the obstinate Chinese politicians who are ...
...The end result is that Tomorrow Never Dies is a game of two halves. The first hour is brash and entertaining with some stylish and inventive Bondian moments whereas the second half of the film is less inspired with a surfeit of increasingly repetitive action to plug the gaps in the story. The PTS of the film is good fun as usual. Bond goes undercover at a 'terrorist arms bazaar' on the Russian border and ends up having to pilot a jet loaded with ...

Bond's 40th Anniversary!

Advantages: Classic Bond moments in first half of the film.
Disadvantages: Gadgets ruin the film, as does John Cleese as Q.

...The plot of Die Another Day revolves Bond being captured whilst on an undercover mission in Korea, he is held by the Koreans for a total of 14 months. Eventually he gets traded by the British Government for Zao. A terrorist who originally blew Bond's cover which in turn meant 007 was captured. Being held by the British Government as a traitor, Bond escapes and goes on the search for Zao, to discover exactly who betrayed him to the Koreans. What he ...
...it. The word Die has been used far too much in the films as well, and that's down to the writers, Robert Wade and Neil Purvis have really given it their all and totally gone for the ultimate Bond adventure. What is delivered is a highly entertaining film but so far over the top in the last hour that when watched again for a second or third time(usually on ITV2) the film starts to look more like the Matt Helm films starring Dean Martin from the 1960's ...
