Advantages: Robert Carlyle is an amazing villain

Tomorrow is just another day for Bond
Advantages: Great modern work all round
Disadvantages: Ever so slightly lacks Cubby Broccoli's magic
Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) is the 18th Bond film, and the second starring Pierce Brosnan as James Bond. Brosnan's first outing as Bond in Goldeneye in 1995 was a great success following a 6 year gap since Timothy Dalton's Bond in Licence to Kill in1989. Goldeneye bridged the gap following the end of the Cold War and the reduction of Soviet villains for Bond, and paved the way for a more modern Bond dealing with more topical issues, as we see here ...

While there was success, Tomorrow Never Dies did not rise straight to the top of the box office chart as it was released on the same day as Titanic - not necessarily an error on anyone's part, for who would have thought anything else could have outsold a Bond film? But it did, even though the total amount taken at the box office was more than Goldeneye.

Underrated James Bond Entry
Advantages: Great cast, decent script
Disadvantages: Bit drab in places
After the fun but cut and paste Tomorrow Never Dies (which ran out of steam about halfway through) a slight change of direction was required for Pierce Brosnan's third adventure. Michael Apted, a director not known for action or adventure films, was chosen to helm the film. The emphasis was clear. Content that their stunt crews could handle the action, Eon decided to pick a director who could work with actors and give their cast more to do than simply ...
...be the stripped-down and more realistic Brosnan Bond. Did they succeed? The answer is almost. Apted is the biggest strength of the film but also a weakness.

Bond 20 is a pillar for the franchise
Advantages: Excellent villain, strong plot
Disadvantages: Slightly over the top with the special effects
Die Another Day is the 20th Bond film, and was released in 2002, the year of the 40th anniversary of the Bond film franchise. It was Pierce Brosnan's last outing as the MI6 agent, and was met with acclaim as well as criticism. The special effects take another step up and the action sequences are breathtaking.

My Opinion
Die Another Day is a very good film for many different reasons. Toby Stephens is one of them, but the other performances must not be overlooked. As the 20th film on the 40th anniversary, there were references to every single previous Bond film, which are too many to quote here, but can all be found by doing a single google search. Advantages: Great fun at its best
Disadvantages: Becomes a bit mechanical after a while
Tomorrow Never Dies was first released in 1997 and is the eighteenth James Bond film and the second to feature Pierce Brosnan in the iconic role. The plot of the film revolves around a media mogul called Elliot Carver (Jonathan Pryce) attempting to start a new world conflict to boost his television empire. Carver wants exclusive broadcast rights to China and believes a war will be the best way to eliminate the obstinate Chinese politicians who are ...
...The end result is that Tomorrow Never Dies is a game of two halves. The first hour is brash and entertaining with some stylish and inventive Bondian moments whereas the second half of the film is less inspired with a surfeit of increasingly repetitive action to plug the gaps in the story.
